Where to get 'canning' stuff.....jars, lids and such.....

Appreciate everyone adding their 2 cents here. Getting the supplies we need for canning can get expensive and some things are hard to find, some are easy. I found this website with losts of items from rings & lids to the plastic lids that fit canning jars (good for storage), to the rubber rings that fit some older type jars. Thought I'd share this link and hope others share where they find their canning needs here.

I'm not familiar with canning, but thought I'd try it for the first time this year.  So any tips you all have would be awesome!

I find the best and least expensive way to get canning supplies is tag sales. I live up North in Maine around Caribou and every year they have what they call a city wide tag sale. It costs $5 to advertise in their flyer and they put out a map of everyone in the city and surrounding area that is participating. There's also a guide that has a brief description of what each house is offering in their tag sale so you can plan which sales to hit. This year the sale is this coming weekend, and I of course will be attending looking for all my kids winter clothes for next year and good homesteading supplies. Does any one else have this sort of thing near where they live? I'll keep you girls posted on what I find.

What an awesome idea! A city wide sale! Wow, wish I could be there! When I lived in Nevada the Methodist church there had a sale every three months and that was a regular stop for me, I was excited every time it came. The best I've found here so far is the 50% off sale at the Goodwill store that falls on every other Saturday. Went this Sat. and got a wooden high chair with a plastic tray, says 'Fisher Price' on it, for $6. It needs some gluing & repainting that I'll be doing. Also making a chair cushion with a strap to tie in the back. I'll make sure to have before & after pics for this project!
