After hysterectomy?

I am new to this group &  will be having a hysterectomy (uterus, ovaries & cervix).  I have heard horror stories about the hormone changes after the surgery.  I do not want to do a HRT regiment because of a family history of breast cancer.  Are there any options available, I have never been one to take meds - I would rather do things "naturally"  Thanks for any suggestions

I had a partial hysterectomy 6 years ago, but my ovaries shut down so I might as well of had a total.  I use a natural progesterone cream that works wonders.  My hubby won't let me go without it.  It makes such a huge difference.  Be careful though and stay away from any that have phytoestrogens in them.  Even though you are having a total hysterectomy, you will still continue to produce some estrogen in your fat cells.  You will just no longer produce progesterone.  Let me know if you have any questions.  I have some great recommendations on where to buy the cream if you are interested.
