i have 2 ferrets in a large tall cage, one uses the bottom left side to do his business and the other uses 3 out of 7 shelfs to do his business. how can i get him to stop using the shelfs (where the world can see) and use the bottom like his cage mate does. we use the same stuff on the bottom like the pet shop does and they both love it. they will lay down in the stuff (on the right side of course) please all the help someone can give is greatly helpful.

buy a cheap spray bottle they have them for like 99 cents and a big bottole of vinager  clean the shelves very well and soray them with the vinagar well you will have to redo this since the wire and shelf will still have the poop smell   but they hate the smell of vinagar  you can try getting your fereet it's owl litter box I know my 2  go in different cornors

I did do this with mine and took  some time but it worked for me

Bleach is fine but you have to let it completly dry befor you put you ferrets back in  I have a small cage that I use for when I wash the condo.   I put the ferrets in the small one take the condo outside scrubit down well  with hot water bleach and a scrub brush. I  also use my pressure washer since the powerfull stream of water gets into all the little spaces  and I amn ot useing that much water then leave it there to dry some.

yeah no bleach allowed i'm allergic to it lol. when we clean them we have a playpen for them bandit hears it and knows he's coming out he's too funny. but i'm deffenatly trying the vinager.  will dish soap work just as well with scrubbing the shelfs?

Scrub the cage down and stop using litter on the entire bottom of the cage. Instead, use a large rectangular or triangular litter box in the corner. You can add blankets and hammocks to the cage for your ferrets to sleep in/on.
