Should I be concerned?

The dr. just diagnosed my 4 mo. old w/ tort, but I have a niece that  has it too, so I already knew my dd had it.  He didn't prescribed meeting w/ a therapist, just said we should work w/ her at home and he would recheck her in 2 months.  Should I be concerned that he didn't send us to meet w/ a physical therapist?  I just felt like maybe he didn't do his job good.  I've gone online to get stretches and my sister has helped me too.  Did anybody else's dr. wait a month or two before sending them to therapy?

HI!  Actually, I had a similar experience - my Mom was down when my son was 2 months and she  said, something is wrong with his neck... he kept pulling back b/c it was more comfortable (I'm assuming) - so, of course, Grandmom goes on-line and found the diagnosis of Torticollis... I called the DR, WITH the diagnosis and they said, oh nooo he'd be in a lot of pain (not true) and it's prob acid reflux - my child never had eating issues, just the normal adjustment period.  At the 4 month well - she was concerned about his neck, and his low muscle tone (he was a preemie) and his flat head...

She did recommend physical therapy right away and he's 8 months - and his neck is doing great! So, what my Mom told me (LOL) - be your own Doctor and REQUIRE that your baby go to PT.

Get the script and go to a place that specializes in infants!!!  Easter Seals has been helping me b/c we live year round in a beach community and were driving to AI Dupont which was 2 hrs up and 2 hrs back once a week.

He was diagnosed with Hypotonia (he's about a month behind on motor skills but this will be resolved with activity etc) so we are now focusing on that and we got him the helmet but his head has rounded out but not as much as we like so we may start the helmet again when it cools down.  What State do you live in?  You should call your local Easter Seals - they helped me a lot.

I know it's so hard to get any diagnosis... I did cry but they say the PT is fantastic!

Good Luck, Meg
