It has been very informative reading all your posts ladies. I look forward to hearing from you. Aloha.
When I signed us up foron post housing. I had called the housing office before and talked to them about what I was looking for. They told me to show up at 0700 the following morning. By 0800 we were assigned a house. We live in Wainwright which is across Tank Destroyer from Patton Park. If you have elementary age children, the school will be Meadows. It's a nice school our DD has been going there for 3 years now. There is a youth Center right across from the school.
Yes, the wait list is long. however, I have heard that if you show up to the housing office and let them know you are here and ready to move in. They will get you into a house ASAP. That's how it happened with us. It was either wait a month to move into Commanche III or take the one we are in now. There is also a NEW part of Patton Park. If you do get a house as soon as you are here, you can always look before you decide you want to take it. They just send you to the village community office. They give you an address and a key to take a look at what they have to offer. Then you go back and tell them yes or no. Also, I know that you should be able to see 3 different houses before you decide if the 1st isn't going to accomidate your family.
I know a few of my husbands soldiers. They went to the village community housing office for the village they wanted to live in and ASKED if they had anything available. They were set up in that village with a house they liked. That might also be an option for you and your husband to check out!
I hope that this helps some. :) and Welcome Back to the Great Grand and Glorious Place.. lol
