Aloha ladies, we are moving soon and would like to get info on a good hotel to hold my 3 kids, husband and I. I'd like to have a hotel with nice sitting area and enough beds maybe a hotel with suites. Of course a pool too.

We don't rough it when we are moving I just want everyone happy. Don't want to drive more than 20 min to post since we will be checking in and looking for a rental. Thanks so much everyone with your time and answers. Aloha Shawna

You need to check with the on post hotel for availability before even looking off post.

LOL well.....its kind of ummm... slim pickins around here. There are a lot of days inn or those types of places. Most have outdoor pools. Some have great potential to have your car broken into. Good luck!

I agree.. there isn't much around here to pick from. But if you do decide to do the On Post Hotels. I know that the 5700 Series by Club Hood.. They were having a holiday sale for 39.00 a day and it was a 2 bedroom barricks type room. I honestly don't think there is anything but some roughing it type places. Unless you want to drive at least 30 minutes to find something alittle bit more decent. Sorry we can't help much.

Thank you ladies for your input. I just don't believe there is nothing around. Does anyone know about the harker heights area. I'm looking for something to be comfortable in since we are moving from Hawaii and will have nothing but our suitcases. I need a place like suites with a stove in and sitting area. I remember the post hotel had nothing and not comfortable.

Of courses won't want to be too far away. I guess we need to look into temple even. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

I don't have any suggestions honestly....not that meet your standards AND do not have a history of people's cars being vandalized or burglarized and are relatively close to Hood. Have you been to Hood in the past?

Aloha, yes we were stationed at Fort Hood 12 years ago for 2 years. My first child was born there. There is so much to see that we didn't since my husband was deployed to Bosnia. We spent month and a half finding a home here and stayed in a condo it was nice not to rough it. We had everything that I needed. So I wasn't wanting to rough it in a small hotel room. And I remember the on-post hotel wasn't very nice and shared kitchen. So you can imagine I thought there were more places to stay than there were 12 years ago when I just had one child now I have 3. And I don't want to eat out everyday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The gentleman my husband is replacing we know from a previous post I guess we will ask him. Aloha SKN

I completely understand where you are coming from. I just think that it is going to be impossible to get EVERYTHING that is on your list, mainly a hotel with an open pool and everything else. Don't be surprised if you can't get everything that you want and go for the big things like the kitchenette and safe neighborhood. Killeen does have a pretty high crime rate these days, so safety IMO would be the biggest thing to consider.

Also the traffic here is insane comparred to several years ago, so a 20min commute may be tricky as well.
