Hey Ladies!

Just stumbled onto this site today and thought it would be a good idea to reach out and try to make friends before I get to Ft Hood....like some of you, even being on a base with all these ladies, it can be hard to connect to gals like us which makes base life a little more pleasant when you have someone to connect with, gals to do things with, hang out with and talk when dear hubby is at work, etc! This can be harder than it sounds to est. solid friendships, not sure if it's because some women don't bother since everyone is going to move away at some point, they are just not nice or social in general, they are hermits, snobby and wrapped up in their hubby's rank, or maybe it was just the base I was at??!?!? LOL!

Anywho, I have been married to my awesome hubby since very end of 09' and still getting into Army life which I loved until they sent my soldier overseas :(.......he returns home at end of October and I will be waiting for him at Ft Hood....currently stuck in limbo away from anything military, sucked into a drama engulfed world (not mine) and trying to be an awesome mom to our baby girl (our first) and would love to have gals to talk with about anything and everything, learn more about Ft Hood from those already there, etc.

Me in a nutshell: 27, mom of a 6 month old baby girl, proud army wife, crazy..loves to sing and dance- love music, photography, languages and cultures, loves simple things- down to earth, love fashion and beauty and staying in shape (need to get there after baby), love convo and hanging out, love going out for night on the town or a casual day, definitely not a boring mom or housewife, open book and love ppl i can be myself around.

So i put myself out there and though I am sure some of you have already answered these kinds of posts from previous members, it be nice to hear about you and your experience and opinions and advice on Ft Hood, etc. How is housing? Does anyone live in Liberty Village? We have been considering that development....I know Killeen is not awesome, but how is the shopping/nightlife? Any thoughts would be awesome.....hope to hear from anyone.

-Shannon

Hello! I also married my husband in 2009 (September) and I have an almost 6 month old son! :) Fort Hood is what you make of it. There's also good and bad parts of Killeen, as there is any town.

We live off post. I am 36 mom of 2 teen boys. Just moved here to Killeen in October. Have yet to experience any clubs :(  I have heard Starlight is pretty decent hip-hop club and wild country over in Harker Heights is the country club. Hope that helps. Oh also been married 6 yrs.

I'm a 38yo SAHM of a 3yr old son & I went to Starlight for the first time on Saturday night w/ some other wives & their newly returned DH. i was never so glad to be married in my life! I was so glad to not be there to meet anyone. the whole crowd looked very low-rent. lol. It was awful. i guess I'm just too old to appreciate men in t-shirts and sneakers and women in booty shorts & tube tops. We really need an upscale pub or martini bar or something a lot more refined than that so the older crowd like myself can have a place to have a cocktail, not a shot. lol

Lol...i wonder if they have any better places in surrounding towns? Here we all drive about 45-1hr to get to the club/bar/dancing/dining scene so maybe outside a bit there might be a diamond lol

I agree Saush a pub would be wonderful! Last time I went "out" I felt sooo old and out of place! Now I have heard downtown Austin is a great night out, I think someone told me 6th street is where the night life is:)
