I want to decoupage a few pieces of furniture. Anyone know if I can rough up the existing paint and still have it work and last? Or am I stuck stripping down to bare wood?
Thanks!!!
Hey, and if anyone has any decoupage pics of things you have done, post away!!! I would love to see them!
Hmmm...my mom may know! I'll talk to her and let you know what she says!!

Hi, i have done this also, I have done both ways, and they both work just as well, but with the paint job already on the furniture, you will need to do some sanding to make sure your decoupage stays on for a while. and make sure you cover it very well with some clear varnish. as with the stripping it's more of the same. but more sturdier and will stay on a long time. we did our sons dressers. using wrapping paper and still it's in good condition, justa few spots we have had to re decoupage some spots, as with kids they tend to be very hard on items such as this. so good luck and have fun.

Thanks so much! I will consider what you said and decide according to what I want to do w/it. If I do it for kiddo, I will strip. For self, might just do over paint after a good rough sanding :)
