This seems weird...any thoughts?

So this is my first baby. My due date is July 22nd. When I first had my cervix checked on 7/2 I was 0.5 cm and 50% effaced. Then I got checked again on 7/9 and I was 2 cm and 70% effaced. But the strange thing is that I haven't felt a single contraction. Unless they have been going on without me noticing it. But as far as these BH contractions - I don't know if they're happening or not. ISn't that odd? I haven't really had any pain. The only pain I have is sometimes after I go to the restroom to pee, when I go to stand back up I get kind of a shooting pain in my pelvic and vaginal area. How is it that I can be dilated 2 cm but really not be feeling anything going on? THanks ladies :)

With my first I didn't feel any contractions and I dialated to a 2 over the course of a couple of weeks before my induction. With my 2nd I didn't feel any contractions until the day I went into labor and I was at a 3ish when they stripped my membranes. I had no Braxton Hicks with either of them, at least that I felt. This current pregnancy is my 3rd and I have had Braxton Hicks since about 25 weeksish, pre-term labor twice and false labor 3 times.

You normally don't feel the early contractions and braxton-hicks actually. It really has nothing to do with how far dilated you are...

Many first time moms don't take notice to their early contractions and BH.  With my son, I had no idea what was going on!  With this pregnancy, I've been having BH since about month 6.  Every one is different.

I went to the ER for what they thought was a kidney infection at 35 weeks. They admitted me to L&D and hooked me up to the monitors. After about half an hour, I looked over to the machine read-out and realized that I was having regular contractions about 4 minutes and wasn't feeling any of them! They stopped my labor and had me on pills until 37 weeks.

Now, the only way I know that I'm having contractions is if I sit with my hand on the top of my belly and see if it gets hard. I was at 2 cm and 80% effaced for 3 weeks. I finally hit 3 cm last week.

i don't think that is weird at all. it may be a case of yumv (your uterus may vary), lol. maybe when real labor begins, it won't be that much painful which is always good. there was a research study on laboring women and those who felt fearful reported more painful contractions so it may be beneficial to work on not feeling fearful. one of my professors does a lot of health related studies and when i was pregnant i asked him for one of his studies but he wasn't the primary author and it was a small part in a bigger project so he couldn't give me the inside scoop but i did find it interesting. good luck!
