okay so the midwife said my surrogate is almost 1 cent dilated and 50 percent efaced and the baby head is right there....
what does this mean? how much longer?
shes 38 wks and 3 days
does she need to be 10 cent dilated in order to go into labor if she reaches 100 efacement?
there's no set knowing of how much longer. some women can go for wks at 1cm and then end up having to be induced..once ur 10cm it means the baby is coming out, and she would be in the hospital giving birth, she would already b in labor and ready to push by that time..being effaced just means thats how thinned out her cervix is. so she is half way thinned out....i know i have been 50% effaced since last wk (that was my first cervix check) and i was only a fingertip dilated. as of yesterday i am 2cm dilated and still 50% effaced, and the baby is at a -1station (meaing his head is still about a finger width away from my cervix)....she could have the baby soon or she could go over and need to be induced..there is no clear knowing..i went into preterm labor at 33wks, they stopped labor. and now im 40wks today and my doc said if the baby hasnt come on his own by tuesday we will induce on the 24th..

I have been 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced for 3 weeks now. No contractions that I can feel. You only have to be 10cm dilated to push. Labor usually starts before then to get you to that point. With my son, I went into active labor and was dilated to about a 3. I think the hospital won't admit you until you are 4 or 5 cm.
