ok, so i started having contractions around 7pm last night. they were mild and i was able to sleep last night. well, 6:30am they woke me up and were irregular all day. a couple hours ago they started coming every 6-8 minutes, with an occassional 15 minute one in the mix. they've only been lasting aobut 20-25 seconds and a lot of the pain is in my back. they have definitely gotten worse since last night.
i had a dr. appointment at noon and she checked me and said she couldn't reach my cervix, so i wasn't in labor. BUT i've been losing my mucus plug since yesturday and today there was a bloody tinge with it too (sorry for the TMI) along with the contractions. she said it couldn't be labor because my cervix hadn't dropped. it really pisses me off that she won't even consider it. i told her that they hurt to the point where i can hardly walk through them, and all she could say was "oh, i know they can be kind of uncomfortable". UNCOMFORTABLE!? no, uncomfortable was 7pm LAST night. she also said she could tell i wasn't in labor because my face wasn't red and my eyes weren't glossy. WTF? ok, so maybe i i'm not in full blown labor ready to push, but it doesn't mean i can't still be in early labor.
they haven't lasted any longer than 25 seconds and are still irregular, but hurt. i'm getting so exhausted and my doctor said this could go on for days. i don't know what to do. i walked around the mall today, but nothing.
did anyone else go through this? how long before you actually went into full blown labor? i really feel like i can't do this right now, but i know i have to. i just want to cry.
my contractions are now about 5 minutes apart and only in my back, with an occassional pain in my stomach. they have gotten much worse... i can hardly breathe through them and i can't sit still or hardly talk during them. they are now lasting about 1 minute- 1minute and a half. i don't know if i should go to the hospital. i mean, at noon my doctor couldn't even feel my cervix. i'd hate to go in and them just send me right back home.
This sort of happened to me- I started with contractions pretty regularly on monday the 6th- no real pain though. Tuesday morning they got stronger and more painful- so I walked a 3 mile bridge and went to the mall. By about 3pm I decided it was time to go home to get ready for the hospital- so I did this- showed up there and they sent me home. I was 2-3 centimeters and having contractions every 6 minutes. Every 5 minutes is considered active labor so she sent me home. I thought exactly what you did- how many days can I do this for? So I took castor oil at like 8pm. I went to sleep- and by 1am I woke up and couldnt sleep through them. My dh said in my sleep I was moaning in pain- but all I could think was "atleast I could sleep"-lol.
Well by 230 am I said it was time to go- and when we got there I was 5 and they were less than 3 minutes apart.
I walked around the hospital went in the jacuzzi and then I asked to be checked- it was now 630 am- she said I was 7- but then she put her hands in there and stretched my cervix* which was awful* but worth it because she said 2 minutes later "okay now you can push" and my son was born in like 3 minutes- I personally think that the castor oil made the difference but really who knows.
Good luck mama.

yeah... that sounds a lot like what i'm going through. were you already dialted before you started having contractions? i'm just wondering if, since noon today, my cervix could have dropped. i don't want to go to the hospital and have them send me home because they can't feel anything like earlier. i definitely can't sleep through these... i can barely breathe through them and i can't sit still.

My doctor never checked me later on because she said she would have patients come in and not be dialated at all, and go into labor that evening. I would go to the hospital if I were you, just to be on the safe side. If you call them at the hospital they will tell you the same.
I'm a breast/bottle feeding, co-sleeping the first year, kiss on the lips & tell her I love her every day kind of mom. I can let her CIO, but when she calls 'mommy' I'm on my feet and there in a heartbeat. I want my daughter to have many different experiences & to love everyone regardless of their's. I'm anti-abortion, for the right to bear arms, and completely against telling someone who they can and can't love.
