Did You Know #9: Halloween Costumes
At the turn of the century the most popular Halloween costume was a ghost. It was simple and easy to make. People got tired of that pretty easily though and started to dig into their closets for hats, old rags, and whatever else they could find to make costumes. Companies noticed the new costumes and started making basic ones to be sold at dime stores.

Very interesting. I think finding what ever you have in closet is the best way to go, it's to your liking and fits how you want it to.
