Yeah you read that right, lol. The first one I cracked bc I tried to make chex mix in it and I guess the lack of liquid cracked the insert bc the next day I tried to cook spaghetti sauce in it. About an hour after I put it in I went to check it and it there was sauce running out the leg of the crockpot! So I got a new crockpot, the same kind; stainless steal, digital control with a black porcelain insert. This has been about 3 years ago.

So then two days ago I was washing the insert and it slipped. I dropped it hard enough that again it cracked. So you know what? This time I switched brands and got a GE crockpot which has a nonstick METAL insert. If i break this one I think there is a problem, lol. The other cool thing about it is that it has presets. I can set it to cook on high for 2 hours then it will switch to low for however many hours I set it for, then after that it will switch to low. It's kind of cool!

I thought the metal would make it cook too hot or make things dry or something, but it doesn't! I have cooked in it twice now and I love it. :)

Is it non stick?  I hate the porcelain ones, they are so heavy and scared mine is gonna go some day too.  Can you post the one you got? never found a metal one before.

If your crock pot is round just use a ceramic plate.  I have also heard of people using foil.  Keep your eyes out at a yard sale for a crock pot because if you can buy it for $5 that's a great price and just keep the cover.

GOOD LUCK!!

I just took a peek at your new crock pot and I might just have to have this one instead... I love all of the features... the cord retracts and the lid locks... that would come in handy. We travel with ours alot !!!  Hope you love it!!

I wish I had known that years ago because I had a coworker break the top off of one of mine when we had a potluck!
