We need girls!!! There is a troop in my area already started, but it has 40 girls in it. The director for our area has asked me if I would be interested in starting a new troop for the girls who live nearby. To start the troop, I need at least three other girls besides my daughter and one other woman to be the co-leader.
No leader experience is required and you don't have to have been in girl scouts as a child. You just have to love and care about the growth and motivation of young girls. Training will be provided. There is an application process and background check that will be submitted to the girl scout regional headquarters.
Dues are $12 to be paid to the national group once a year payable with the application. Troop dues will be decided upon at the parent meeting. I have a location in mind for the meetings- the multi purpose center off of Viscount. Time, days, and frequency have yet to be determined and depend mostly on the availability of the multi purpose center.
Let me know if you're interested in participating in any capacity. I really want to be able to get my daughter started in girl scouts, but because the troop here is so big, there is no space for her. This is a great opportunity for girls in the military because it gives them a family outside of mom and dad that they can keep from place to place. Its also a great way for them to make friends quickly. I look forward to hearing from you!
