Hello everyone...so glad to have stumbled upon this sight tonight.  Loved reading everyone's posts!  I have a 7 y/o son who was unofficially diagnosed PDD-NOS about a year and a half ago.  I have been meeting many frustrations as between his psychologist and neurologist, no real formal testing was done, just questionaires and things.  Neurologist seemed a little more clued in on things.  Did blood work and genetics work-up which did not point to anything.  Said it looked to be PDD-NOS.  I took him to my older son's psychologist, who's specialty is ADHD.  She also labeled him with that, and said he seems to have some OCD.  Noone is being clear on things and I don't feel like we are getting anywhere.  Nothing has really changed.  At 5 y/o he met qualifications for special ed preschool.  Did well there and has gotten no additional help at school since, not even an IEP.  I feel that the school system says he's doing fine just to save money.  He has his good days and bad days.  My main worries now are that he seems very depressed and seems to be retreating into his own world.  We live a very chaotic life-he has two little sibs and four older adopted sibs and I'm afraid he's getting lost in the shuffle.  He's a bit behind in school, reading some words, but no sentences.  Handwriting is usually illegible and math is just way over his head.  He's also been getting teased and now doesn't want to go at all.  I don't know what to do or where to turn to.  I love everything the psychologist does for my older ADHD son, but feel that nothing is being done for my 7 y/o.  My son is so consistently inconsistent I don't even know if he is PDD-NOS.  His father blames me and says if we would have stayed together our son would be fine.  I don't know any kids with this dx and just am looking for somewhere or someone to turn to before things get worse.  I would love your input.  Thanks!

Glad to have you on board with us mama, I really don't have answers for you as every single child on the spectrum is so alike, but sooooo different. Lane is Moderate to severely autistic. He will be 11 in a week, still not mainstreamed in school. He goes to a special class for his age group that is for Autism. I get really upset to thinking he is not getting nearly what he needs, but with him you never know. He has Autism, OCD, Tics really bad at times, can't tell you what he had for breakfast but can recite the books of the Bible in perfect order, recite any rhyme or riddle or song after hearing it just one time. He is awesome with video games, but totally unsociable. He usually repeats what is said to him, sometimes he will shock us witha full sentence that isn't so chopped up. He is very sweet & lovable, but at one time a few years ago, it was a nightmare with his anger & aggression. I would also like to add that Lane was perfectly typical until the age of 22/mos already talking in full sentences, with extensive blood work we found out that the last round of shots (6) he received at 20/mos were all full of mercury & it put him in a toxic overload, his Dr diagnosed him with Vaccine induced Mercury Poisoning, labeled with Autism, same symptoms, different reason. He gets lots of therapy which with every passing day, we see some improvements. No matter the reason or cause, you Mom's are all wearing the same shoes & it feels good to talk with someone that really knows what is going on. You will get some good info & support here in this group. Good luck mama.
