gps for elopers?

hello, this is my first post. I'm not good with computers so my sister helped me get started.

I have an 8 year old with autism who has begun "eloping" as they say in autism terms, meaning he tries to get away from us. After a few run-ins with the police it's been suggested that we get some kind of GPS system for him to help keep track of him.

Has anyone ever used one of these and if so, what type, brand etc.?
