Hi everyone. I can see we have a few new members. I would like to have everyone introduce themselves please. Just a few lines about yourselves and your children and post some pics if you like.

Hello! My name is Laurie and I have two beautiful children, Ryan and Jessie. Ryan has Asperger's. After a very frustrating week with his school, I'm in desperate need of talking with others who might be dealing with the same things!!! I look forward to getting to know you all. Also, is there a chat room that you all talk in? Thanks!

Hi! My name is Carla, and my 3 1/2 year old son was diagnosed w/ Asperger/PDD on Thursday. I am going through the hoops w/ the school system here, but it's going to be fight to get the services he needs (I have been told by numerous other parents.) I have 3 other children 1, 9 and 10 years old. I have read numerous manuals on ABA therapy, and the information is overwhelming!!!
Hello to the everyone,
My name is Allana, my husband and I have two children, David is 5 years old and autistic, and Becky is age 2 and a standard little girl. We home-school, and plan to K-12 since it just works best for us and the kids. My husband is a scientific illustration grad student and is going to work for science museums and what better place for a little boy who loves dinosaurs and other prehistoric life. Life has been slowly getting better as I learn how to work with Davids Autism, but it has definitely changed our lives at first to chaos, but now the changes have improved many aspects of out lives. I have to admit though I would still give almost anything to talk with my son now, not someday.

my name is cherry and i am a mother of 4. 16,15,6,and 5 in 2 weeks. i almost 5 yr old has autism and my 6 yr old has adhd. my life is so busy sometimes i dont even have time to take a shower everyday, not something ive ever been used to. sonny, my austistic son, is in aba, therapy and the play project. he has just started the swim group which is amazing to see how much it relaxes a group of 7 autistic children. the interact without prompts for about am hour. i do about 45 hours of work with sonny every week between aba, therapy, play project and my therapy room that we had built in our home. it is hard but sonny is worth every minute of it. and to see how far he has come in a year, its almost a miracle.

Hi LeAnn and everyone,
I have three kids, 15,12 and 9. My oldest has HFA, though I usually tell people he has Aspergers because it's easier for them to understand.
It's been an incredible journey for us, but he's come such a long way that I now know nothing is impossible for him. He's been in a regular classroom with a one-on-one aide since kindergarten, and works hard to overcome all his obstacles.
The most moving day of my life was his Bar Mitzvah. This boy I thought would never speak led an entire service ... in Hebrew! He loved being in front of a crowd so much that he cracked jokes throughout the service. Even the Rabbi was laughing and crying! It was a memorable day for all.
Look forward to getting to know everyone here.
Ellen

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. I'm a mom to 2 boys ages 13 and 10yo. My 13yo, T, was dx with Asperger's, ADHD, SID, chronic motor tic disorder and bipolar and my youngest, O, with ADHD, SID and they say he's on the Autistic specturm (will be dx with Asperger's soon). They are also both gifted, which makes it even harder on all of us here.
Another piece of information to share with you all is that I, myself am dx with Asperger's (and the rest of the things) as well, so even though at times it's much easier for me to udnerstand my boys and their behavior, at other times it's much harder for me to handle their tantrums and meltdowns.
Anyway, I thought I'd come in to share my experience and knowledge, as well as learn from all of you, and maybe make some new friends in the process.

Hi,
I am new to CafeMom and just joined this group. My name is Janice and I have a 5 year old son who is a high functioning autistic. We run an in-home therapy program for him based on the Son-Rise method and have had great results. Running a full time program at home does not leave me alot of time to network outside of the home, so I am happy to have found this website. I look forward to meeting and talking with other moms and dads to share ideas, thoughts, and stories.
I am also hoping to find other families in the Tampa, Florida area since I am trying to find volunteers to work with my son.
Faith.Love.Hope.
