My poor Aspie has struggled with many educational difficulties. The biggest of which is that he is a visual learner. When there is just black and white print on a page, like a math worksheet, then it's jibberish to him. It was severely frustrating him, especially when he began to realize his younger brother was working on the same information. When we would talk about a process (like multiplication) then he had no problem expressing how it works, or telling me the answer to a problem. But as soon as he had to put it to paper, it was all over. He would often meltdown and regress to the point of not remembering how to spell his name. It broke my heart.
For Christmas this past year we got the IPad 2. W/ DH and I unemployed we couldn't afford such an extravagence, but we got gift cards from everyone we knew.
Well, with all the apps, my baby is a whole knew kid! Spash Math is his favorite. He aces every problem and has blown through 3 grades worth of information. I hope someday that he'll get more comfortable with the printed page, but I'm so excited to see him confident in his learning, having FUN with it! YAY!!
SO, I HIGHLY recommend the Ipad to those who are facing similar difficulties with the printed page. There is an app for just about everything. There are apps for kids with speech delays, understanding emotions in others, all school subjects, etc.

Shannon

One foundation does and it's in California. They need a paper from the doctor first. I gotta ask my sons school about that foundation again. I gotta sign both my boys for it.
That's awesome! They are so worth it IMO
