I am just curious if anybody else comes from a large family. I have 4 brothers and 5 sisters. I guess maybe that's why I want such a large family of my own. Anybody else?

Yes and No ... my immediate family was of 1 brother, no sisters BUT we were at my aunt's house several times a week with all my dad's brothers and sisters (there are 8 of them living) and all of their children.  So I grew up with my brother and 6 cousins - then we all started having kiddos.  There are some 26 kids between us cousins but we don't get together nearly as much as we did when we were younger.

I do, I am the baby 18. I dont know about you, but sometimes its hard to look for friends outside my family, because I already feel so close to my siblings, I feel I can trust them more than a stranger.

There are 16 of us remaining, I have 6 brothes, and 9 sisters. You just feel like no other family was like your own growing up. So much joy and closeness, and some tears.

We grew up without a t.v. so this allowed our imagination to grow, and forced us to find intertainment in reading books, singing together, putting on plays etc...Mom got her share of rude comments from snobby women, and us kids got our share of being made fun of by the teachers, I dont know if you experienced any of this.

Even today these prejudices remain, I have four kids, and I want more, and I get so tired of the remarks from ignorant insensitive people out there.

It's like you can own 5 dogs, and no one will think a thing, but if its kids, oh my gosh your treated like white trash. You must be stupid if you want more than 2.

Does anyone feel society thinks its o.k. to pick on large familys? and have you been treated this way?

Nope I have 2 sisters.  My husband only has a brother and sister.  So we are all from smaller families.  We are actually the only ones who have a large family. The rest have 2-3 children.

Yes , I have 5 sisters and 1 brother !!!! My oldest sister passed away 2 years ago of cancer  so now there are just 6 of us !!! I never really planned for the number of children that I would have , I guess growing up in a large family it just came naturally for me to have a "bunch" of my own !!! No regrets , life is so full of fun and learning experiences !!! I am now the "Proud" grandparent of "6" beautiful grandchildren as well !!!  My house is full of " Love " !!!!

I have three older brothers, but growing up in a Catholic family in Ireland, we were considered a small family. My mother is one of 13 and my father is one of 9. Between the three of my brothers I have 17 nieces and nephews!
