sending out Thank you notes? I am not sure on this but was thinking that they needed to be sent out with in a week or so.
Thank you!!!
i think it depends on what for..... For a birthday gift or Christmas - I always make sure I am within 2 weeks...... A baby shower -- preferably before the baby comes because once it gets here you will never get them done..... but generally within 4 weeks.... and a wedding - I am sure Mrs. Manners knows the generally accepted rules but I don't think you should wait any longer than 3 months - and that is pushing it ( for me....).
Thank you!! My sister in law threw a baby show for me Sunday and I went and got the cards, filled them out, now I need to find all of the addresses. I just wanted to make sure that I had a little bit of time. =-)
Well technically the old fashioned rule is up to weeks, weddings are up to a YEAR! NOT! I totally disagree with these, I think these deadlines were created in a time when mail wasn't as efficient and life in general moved slower. My personal approach to teaching is that you should try your best to get them off within the first week for any occassion, two at the latest. With the exception of weddings because they can be overwhelming but again with in a month. The biggest reason being because you should include something personal with your thank you and the longer you sit on them the easier it is to forget that little something personal that may have happened at the event. Especially when you are preggers ;-). Ugh on the addresses, please try to check with who ever threw the shower for their addresses. A great tip if you ever host a party is to have everyone fill out their thank you card envelopes for the expectant Mom when they arrive. Then the Mom to be just fills in the thank you card part and life is much simpler. LOL Good luck and big hugs!
Thanks! I have them all written out, now need stamps to put them in the mail. lol. I didn't think I should wait to long on getting them out. Plus I think she is going to want to come earlier than the Dr.'s think she should. lol.
