Does anyone know if you can return items you bought on black friday? I kept my receipt, but its in my hubby's car so I can't check it right now, but my sister was looking at it after we bought the item and said something about the receipt saying you could return the item for a gift card, but not for money back.

What store are you referring to?  I've never heard of not being able to return something that was purchased on black Friday or getting a gift card instead of cash.

Target -- I was thinking the same thing I've never heard of you not being able too, but my sister (who is only 12) says thats what the receipt said. I'll look at the receipt tomorrow when hubby gets home from work, but I was just hoping someone on here knew for sure

If its from Target its a sure bet you can only get a gift card out of them ...if that! This is a big reason as to why I don't buy gifts for people there. They ALWAYS have an attitude like you are trying to rip them off. I believe if its paid for you should be able to get your money back. Not everyone loves Target.

If you have a receipt for target they will let you return things.  They are great if you have a receipt.  I have never had a trouble with a return.  They recently made changes for the better on return policies.  I know there are some restrictions on movies and things like that.  Check your reciept.  GOOD LUCK

My Black Friday reciept says: 11/27/09 08:03 am, expires 02/25/10

Now I spent enough to get the $10 GC for being there before 11am, and where it came up "Holiday Promotion" it reads

"Promotional discount Applied to All Qualifying items. All Items must be returned for a full refund"

My thought is that if your return would bring you below $100, you will loose some or all of the "free" gift card.

I have never had a problem with a return at Target as long as I had the receipt.  People that I have given gifts to have never had a problem as long as I gave them a gift receipt with the item,

If your receive a promotional gift card from a Target purchase and you return any of the item that triggered the offer, you must return the gift card too.

If you spent over $100 at Target and got the promotional gift card and your returns put you under $100 you must return the entire gift card or they will take the value of the GC from your account.

You can make returns before the return by date and as long as you have your receipt you will get back the price you paid.  If you paid with a credit card, they can look up the receipt.  Past the date listed on the receipt the returns will be made at the cheapest clearance price IF it can be found in the computer.

Hope this helps.

I have NEVER had any problems returning anything to Target EVER.  Buying gifts for people is no problem if you get a gift receipt.  If someone has a gift receipt Target will give them a giftcard.  That is the policy at EVERY store I shop at, not just a Target.

We bought a Christmas tree from them. I had to drive back up the following week cause it was missing a leg. The lady was nice. Took the item and gave me a gift card, her service was very nice, never once acted rude or anything. I got a new tree, for $10.00 cheaper, and some ornaments.
