Is it me?

Not too long ago, I used to be able to find a BUNCH of great deals and awesome clearance buys at Target. Now I often find myself walking out of the store disappointed and empty handed.

Are the deals at Target really getting harder to find, or am I just becoming more selective about what I buy these days?

It's not just you. They are not going as high on their percentages as before and shipping clearance items to the Good Will sooner than before. I was in there  2 days ago and the Christmas stuff was only at 70% and they were already clearing the shelves to send to the thrift stores.

I think my store ordered a lot less holiday stuff this year than they did in the past.  Before Christmas pretty much anything good was already gone.  I went a few days ater Xmas and I only picked up a few things from the Dollar Spot 1/2 off and a tiny gift bag from the Xmas section.

I used to go to several Targets every week and find awesome deals about 6 years ago . I used to pay 1.24 for packs of underwears and socks. Underwears out of the pack would be .64 cents. My kids pants were 3.24 and tshirts for 1.24 !!! The prices on their clearance were out of this world even for food items. The most we paid for toothpaste, shampoo and deodorant was .49 cents. Shoes for all of the family for 2.24 each pair. My husband said after all the savings from the coupons he felt like we were robbing the store>LOL

That was like a year or two ago that I noticed no more fantastic clearance items. A lot of it is being sold to all the Goodwills in Bulk by the pound or in those crates like you find the items at Costco. The Goodwills are making a lot of money off of those items. I always thought I can get it at the store for cheaper. Not anymore and Goodwill is expensive -6.99 for a pair of used shoes. You can get up early and go to garage sales and get them for 1.00. LOL

Me too! I kept saying to my daughter how wierd it was that they didn't go to 75% and that they were already clearing the shelves to move to Good Will. And I've seen the stuff at Good Will. They charge way toooo much. More than Target.

I live in one of the biggest geographical cities in the U.S., so visiting all the Target stores in town in hopes of a good buy just isn't worth the gas it would take.

I'm sad to see it's not just me, though, and is a trend with Target. And I know what you mean about 70% off vs. 75%. My Target used to clearance things at 90% off! It's been well over a year since I've seen the 90% clearance sign, though.

I used to love going to get baby clothes in the clearance section and grabbing shirts for $1-$2.  Now I'm really lucky if I find a shirt under $4 in clearance!  I haven't seen a 75% off sign in babies for over a year.

My sister works at Target and they were told recently that nothing at her store will go lower than 70% off any longer...
