yes , my son is 12 , talks to himself as a way of processing things for himself i believe , stimming
i think that is somewhat normal for kiddos... as long as the meds if she is on them, are not too powerful for her and causing it as a side effect.. but i know my 15 yr old who is NOT ADHD talks to herself alot~
I do it! hee hee For me, I start having a conversation in my head. Before I know it the words are coming out of my mouth. I don't even realize I am doing it. My husband catches me doing it all the time.
I believe talking to myself is the only thing that keeps me sane... besides no one else says what I want to hear like ME!! "Self... do you think it is time to walk away from the kid that NEVER stops talking and have a glass of wine?" "why self... you are a genius"... I also give myself a little comic relief... LOL
My 10yr old does it too. I'm assuming by her own little world you mean kind of disconnects from this one. My son still does it to a point (he's taking meds). I was told it's one way for them to deal with the world and helps process things easier.
My 9yr old does it all the time. He will also repeat sentences over and over again. I think its a way of processing what was just said by himself or someone else.
