Does anyone ever think there child is more than just adhd?? My so has had the Adhd diagnosis since age 3. Since he could walk he has been knocking out his teeth (now missing 10 or so) he is extremely angry alot of the time. It's getting worse! we try meds after meds idk if its just me but seems as if they work a few days than dont.....perhaps I just think it works.. took him off meds a bout a week ago all together tired of trying when nothing helps. thing is his teacher says at school she has min problems even off the medication. however it seems at home its getting worse if hes not busy or into something running back and forth on my couch, unable to sit still for the slightest moment, cant get him in timeout anymore, over and over he sticks out his butt at you like its a game even tho hes been told its not..its like he don't get it!!!! or he screams so loud "boo ya baby" then pretty much break dances weird. hes been opening the door and trying to run in the road..I have no idea what to do every time I talk with his doc I feel like I am hounding them! he has put holes in my walls, bruises on my skin... but if it were my parenting would not my other children have similar issues? every family member I talk to or friend  says I am a amazing mom and they don't know how I do it....even his counselor! I keep asking his doc could it be something else?? can we test for something else?? every time its met with well....his father was on adhd meds when he was younger....we had church last night he didn't want to get in the car so it was screaming as loud as he could in the parking lot and not getting in after about 20 mins or so finally got him in but it was a huge battle! seems like there is no reasoning at all anymore and he keeps getting worse! he has a hard time sleeping most of the time going to bed around 1-2 am getting up around 6 ish and he has always been that way. hes almost 7 now.he says weird things talks about shooting ppl alot or killing them...we don't allow him to have toy guns anymore and he has never watched violent shows. he will make a house look like a tornado in a matter of minutes...he will also be drenched in sweat really red in the face from not slowing down at all. I have done research online and cant seem to even come close to finding another kid that has meltdowns like him...the neighbor thought I was cray till one day she came over and seen for herself then said omg I don't know why I didn't see it before hes autistic! well if he was why have docs not seen it??? why did I miss it??? I just want him to be happy, healthy and loved its what everyone wants right?? having a hard time and trying so so hard....anyone have any ideas what this could be??? I will take any advice we have a doctors visit today at 330!

Have you had a pediatric neurologist visit with him? They can test and rule out autism and other neurological things if there is any. My son is similar in defiant behavior/ not listening, running until he's so red and sweaty ect. He's not violent but he does get eat over rough with his sisters
and at school they say he listens and is quiet. At home whole other story. We had a him tested for aurosm by neurologist who also said he had adhd and odd. With the odd is feels Like constant behavior probably with him
or it got so bad me a d my Dh err fighting all the time and miserable I dreaded being home alone withto my ds bc he did not listen. We are currently seeing a thrapist who us helping with how to deal with his behavior so we don't go crazy. It can be frustrating and hard to stay calm bc his "crazy" feeds my anxiety so I have to walk away a min to catch my breath. The calmer I stay usually defuses it but he has mega melt downs too I was advised to ignore it -and hard when he's screaming so loud I can't be heard when I talk-unless he's hurting someone/ himself or being destructive. Ifhe acts out he goes in time out every time. Of he gets out of timeout I will put him in his room and hold the door shit until he calms down. This is so he doesn't hurt anyone in his fiy, once hr calms down he gets out and o set the timeout timer, he sits or to his room. It takes a lot of physical effort mines a 55 lb tall 5&1/2 yo but he needs to listen or ill have an out of control 12now ect yo ob mu hands. If he's breaking stuff its time out. I gave him a box if paper he can shred or he can do maps or jumping jacks when he feels all crazy I explain when he's not crazy so he had options other than tearing around the house.
I hope this helps some. O have to come back on later and I can clarify/ check spelling. Im holding a squirmy baby right nowits I hope you get some answers zooming know his frustrating and stressful it is.
Good luck

Also my ds never slept well either. It takes a while fir him to settle to bed. We found he really likes to rock so we have rocker in his room he'll sit in and I rock him. Its amazing how most nights it'll calm him tight to sleep. People may offer melatonin about sleep be careful sometimes the doses are too high and if used too many nights itvcan mess up your chills sleep pattern. Plus it may help him go to sleepbut he'll still wake up all night long.

Hugs. What kind if doctor(s) are you talking to ? The problem is, he's young and the other possibilities are hard to diagnose at that age. Many mental disorders overlap and the diagnosis process is very subjective. Do research on ODD and BiPolar. Also possibly Aspergers? Does he see a psychologist? That might be your first step.

Sounds like ODD or bipolar- they kind of mimic one another.  You need to get a referral to a specialist so they can test him and figure this out.  For ODD it is all behavior management and some meds.  Bipolar is the other way around- all meds with some behavior modification.

works for a while then does nothing at all cus he gets use to it! that and we are always upping the dose my son is only 46 pounds  and 7! he was on the highest dose for a kid his age and size...didn't gain wait for 3 years yet docs were not concerned unlike myself. we have not been to a nuro but at this point I will try anything.....he does sound alot similar to your son whatmynameagain not all of it tho I cant even take him into a store these days last night took us 2 hours to go into a store and out all I needed was a few thing too it was horrible. Heathersrich he just sees his a regular ped doc...same place I went to when I was little he's seen every doc in the building! he has a counselor only seen a phyc 2 times and he made me feel as if it was all my fault... he does not believe in adhd he said...made me cry! we have not been back. Hypermom38 it is so hard to figure it out cus I see him do things that make me think odd or bipolar than I see things that make me think aspergers or adhd! lol

Ok, Look at it like this. You have gone as far as you can with a Ped. If your child had Cancer you would find a specialist in the field to help him. Sounds like a bad psych. Sometimes a good one is hard to find but once you do they can help. You need to search your area and find a doctor that specializes in childhood testing. Weather a Neurologist or behavior specialist, someone that can give you more answers. We changed doctors many times till we found the right fit. It's an uphill battle but your son needs you to prevail. Also multiple diagnosis can exist in one child. My son was diagnosed at 7 with ADHD. At 8 they added Dyslexia. Somewhere in there I was also told mood disorder (bipolar) and now his psychiatrist believed also ODD. Fight for that baby your the only one who can. And where here to help. :)

Have they tried different Meds? Behavioral therapy? Family counceling? My son started at 6 did well with Meds he does have several learning disabilities now 13 he has trouble following rules very disrespectful/ mouthy to me had a fight two weeks ago at school but was in defence he was also being bullied and just turned 13 so not sure how much is hormonal. We have been taking alot of things away as punishment after giving two warnings but we are also giving him time with family that he requests like tv that he want we may not like it but its about spending more time together I am also doing personal counceling to learn how to calm down etc
