Alternative to Meds???

I am looking for some good alternatives to prescribedmedication for my son.

He is 7 has been diagnosed ADHD (combined type) and ODD. He is currently on 27mg Concerta ER. It has stopped working and I refuse to go up any higher on the dosage.

I have heard that caffine works good. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Also I have heard that Zinc & Fish Oil work wonders. Again anyone with any experience?

I really want to try all I can to not up my son's dosage and eventually get him off all prescribed meds. But he needs something to help him. He is like a jack rabbit on crack if he is totally unmediated!

started this a few days ago.. sorry got interupted.

1000mg Fish oil  get flavored if he can't swallow the horse pills they are.

1/2 capsule or tablet  vit B-50  complex,

500-1000mg  Vit C M

250mg magnesium

500mg Calcium,

500mg tyrosine.

is a good place to start.   weight wise he could take more age wise she is young.  so start here... and if in a few weeks or so you feel he may need more we can talk about how to increase her levels.

you won't see the sudden improvement you would see with meds.   it takes more time for the levels to build up  but you should see a difference.     if  you need help or have questions..   let me know.   I will do the best I can.

I have done a lot of research also but it all is so confusing to me and i read up on the feingold diet that seems way too restrictive for our current lifestyle my dd is 6 years old she will be 7 in June she is 47 inches tall just measured her tonight and her weight is 72lbs any advice on supplements is appreciated. I was totally on board to try ADHD meds until I found out my insurance will fill the prescription but I need to go to county services to have it prescribed even though she carries a diagnosis already. I figured there is adaptions that have to be made such as trying diff meds and diff dosages and I didnt want to continually go back to county to make changes so I will wait until I get proper insurance but until then if something alternative can help her then im all for it

Fish oil is good...   also vit B complex, Vit C Magnesium Calcium, and an amino acid called tyrosine.   I can help with the amounts for your son's age and weight if you like.

Zinc may be helpful but my major concern with zinc is  copper balance     please  make sure you consult with his Pediatrician  to keep proper levels and a good balance with copper.    another option might be Almonds are high in zinc and copper, and assuming no nut allergies 5 or 6 almonds daily would take care of zinc needs.
