I currently live in northern VA (close to DC), and am thinking of moving to Charlotte. There are a LOT of things I like about this area, but it's just so expensive here! One of my favorite things about the DC area is the diversity here, and people here are generally open-minded. I feel really comfortable here, and finally have one really good friend. But like I said, it's so expensive here, and I would like to find a place with the same good things we have here (like diversity), but without the high cost of living.
I moved here in '03 at the age of 18, before moving here I had lived many places because my mother used to move a lot. That is until she moved to a place I hated when I was 12. Being I've lived many places, I know just how different one place can be from another. My environment is very important to me. That is why I'm in this group, I would like to find out more about Charlotte. How diverse is it? And are people generally open-minded or close-mined there?
Also, I have gotten used to all the choices in different types of food here, we have restaurants offering food from every continent here. My favorite kinds of food are Salvadorian, Peruvian, and Thailanese. Does Charlotte have any restaurants offering that food?
One more thing. I would like to make a few friends from Charlotte before moving there, right now I don't know anyone there, and my husband might be going back to his country for a few years when and if I go to Charlotte, so without any friends, I would be very lonely there. If anyone in this group wants to be my friend, send me a friend invite. Please! I need more friends anyway, whether I move there or not. And it would be really nice to already know a few people in Charlotte before moving. Hope to hear back from someone!
