hi, my name is addie and i am new here at cafemom.  i have 2 grown kids and 3 grandchildren, 2 whom i have pretty much raised.  they r 6 and 10 (the 3rd is 4) and don't live w/me anymore, but r right around the corner so it's still just as if they are mine.

i'm an excellent cook...a little dash of this and a little pinch of that.  fast food in my house is something i prepare in my own kitchen quickly. lol.  i believe healthy and good is easy.  i'm working on a cookbook and just completed an ebook on weight loss and better eating.  if that interests any of u...take a look:

Hello!  I'm Carrie and just found this group.  I have one child, a little girl named Alli.  She's 9 months old, but eating table food.  I'm still trying to lose weight from my pregnancy and I want to cook better for my daughter.  My one downfall is Pepsi.  I love it and can't seem to stop drinking it!  I know a woman who stopped drinking soda and has lost 55lbs in a year!  So, I am starting to ween myself off of sodas.  It's just really hard!  I'm also a military wife, so I deal with the stress of his possibly going overseas and I'm a student.  I am attending college, so some days I'm too tired to cook.  So, any quick healthy recipes would be wonderful!

hi April! Welcome! I know this is the place for you. Little ones can be really picky (who wouldn't be if healthy food tasted like cardboard) But here, you will find yummy recipes which are healthy and usually easy to make. And the time is now to start introducing healthy foods to your son. Make it fun for him to try new things. Let him help you mix eggs or whatever stir something on the stove, so it includes him the the process. He will  be more likely to try something new if he was a part of him making it!

My name is Caitlin, I am 19 and have a daughter, Aliya, who is almost 2. I was so happy to find this group because I take nutrition very seriously and I think the way our society eats today is horrible. My daughter is at risk of becoming overweight because she is in the 90th percentile for children her age and her biological father is overweight. I am looking for tips on nutrition and healthy lifestyles.

Welcome Caitlin! Good for you on looking out for your daughter's health!!! That is the way to do it, now while they are little and you can shape their tastbuds to healthier foods! I can tell you, as you eat healthy foods, she will want what you are eating, so make sure what she sees you eat, she eats it too. Also, tell whoever watches her what you are doing, bring extra healthy food for her when she is being watched if it is necessary. Ask your caregivers to take it seriously, and let them know the foods you do not want her to eat. Above all, get the girl outside with you, go to the park for a picnic. Get her a trike. For the most part, Americans spend too much time being complacent, so get up and get out! I will be praying for you this week, so keep doing what you are doing!
