ok ladies I know summer,s almost over but to me it,s never too late to start looking at holiday recipes, esp when we might want to change things up a bit this yr. All of these are from the Favorite Brand Name Best Loved Holiday Recipe cook book that I got at work today , ( I work at a Salvation ARmy store)

Philly Garlic and Herb  Dip

1- 8 oz pkg cream cheese softened , 3 tblsp milk, 3 tblsp finely chopped fresh basil, 3 tbslp finely chopped parsley, 2 tblsp chopped fresh chives, 1 clove garlic minced,  mix cream cheese and milk w/ electric mixer at med speed til smooth , blend in remaining ingredience , chill .

Celebration punch ,

1 46 fluid oz  can pineapple juice chilled, 1 - 46 fluid oz can apricot nectar chilled, 1c orange juice , 1/4c fresh lime juice , 2 tblsp grenadine , 1c rum ( opt ) ice cubes ,  combine all ingre in punch bowl , garnish w/ pineapple wedges and lime slices if desired .

Cranberry Sangria

1 - 750  ml dry red wine , 1c cranberry juice cocktail , 1c orange juice , 1/2c cranberry liqueur( opt ) 1 orange thinly sliced, 1 lime thinly sliced,  Comibne wine, cranberry juice cocktail , orange juice , liqueur, orange slices, and linme slices in lg glass pitcher, chill 2-8 rs .

Mushroom Parmesean Crostini,

1 tblsp olive or veg oil, 1 clove garlic fine chopped, 1c chopped mushrooms, 1 loaf itilain or french bread ( 12 inches long and toasted , 3/4c ragu pizza quick sauce , 14c grated parmesean cheese, 1 tblsp finely chopped basil ,  preheat oven 375 , in 8 in no stick skillet hear oil over med heat and cook garlic 30 sec , add mushrooms and cook stirring occationaly( 2 min until liq evaporates)  . On baknig sheet arrange bread slices, evenly spread ragu sauce on bread slices then top w/ mushroom mix , cheese and basil . bake 15 min or til heated through .

Champagne punch

1 orange , 1 lemon,  1/4c cranberry flacv liqueur or cognac,1/4c orange flav liqueur or triple sec,1 bottle pink or reg champagne or sparkling white wine well chilled ,  remove colored peel ,not white pith from orange and lemon in long thin shtrips w/ citrus peeler, refridgerate orange and lemon for another use , Combine peels and cranberry and orange flav liqueurs in glass pitcher cover and chill 2- 6 hrs

fresh garden dip,

1 1/2c mayo, 1 1/2c shredded carrots, 1c finely chopped broccoli flowerets, 1/3c finely chopped green onions, 2 tsp dried dill weed, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, broccoli flowerets, cauliflower floretes, or peeled mini carrots, stir together mayo , shredded carrots, broccoli, green onions, dill and garlic powder in bed bowl til blended, spiin into serving bowl , cover and chill 1 hr or overnight .

Cranberry cheese cake muffins

1 3 oz plg cream cheese soft, 1/4c sugar divided, 1c milk, 1/3c veg oil, 1 egg, 1 pkg cranberry quick bread mix,   preheat oven to 400, grease 12 muffin cups, beat cream cheese and 2 tblsp sugar in sm bowl til well blended, combine milk , oil and egg in lg bowl  bleat w/ fork til blended, stir in quick bread mix just until dry ingre are moistened. fill muffin cups 1/4 full w batter , drop 1 tsp cream cheese mix l into center of each cup, spooon remaining batter over cream cheese mix, sprinkle batter w/ rest of 2 tblsp sugar , bake 17- 22 min  remove from tin, cool 5 min then put on wire rack to finish cooling .

pineapple zuccini bread,

1c veg oil, 3 eggs, 3 1/2 tsp equal or 12 packets or 1/2c equal sweetener, 1 tsp vanilla, 2c shredded zuccini, 1 reg sz can unsweetened crushed pineapple in juice , drained ( save juice ) 3c flour, 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon , 1 tsp baking soda, 3/4 tps ground nutmeg, 3/4 tsp salt, 1c raisins, 1/2 c chopped walnuts ( opt )

mix oil, eggs equal, and van in lg bowl , stir in zuccini and pineapple , miz flour , cin, and nutmeg, baking soda, salt in med bowl, stir into oil miz , stir in raisins, and walnuts , spread batter evenly in 2 greased and floured 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x2 1/2 in loaf pans .bake in preheatred oven at 350 til breads are golden brown and toothpick comes out clean . about 50-60 min  cool in pans on wire rack for 10 min  remive drom pans and cool completely on wire racks.

walnut chocolate quick bread

1 1/2c milk, 1c sugar,1/3c veg oil, 1 egg beaten, 1 tblsp mollasses, 1 tsp van, 3 c flour , 3 tblsp unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 tsp baking soda, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp salt, 1c chocolate chips, 1/2 c walnuts coarsly chopped   preheat oven 350 ,grease and flour 5x3in loaf pan , set aside, combine milk, sugar, oil, egg, milasses and van , in med bowl , stil til sugar is dissolved , set aside. whisk together  flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in lg bowl , add chocolate chips ,nuts and sugar, mix , stir just til combined, pour into prepared pans, bake 30 min or til toothpick comes out clean cool in pan 15 min , remove from pan and cool on wire rack .

cranberry ricotta brownies

filling : 1c ricotta cheese, 3 tblsp whole berry cranberry sauce , 1/4c sugar, 1 egg, 2 tblsp cornstarch, 1/4- 1/2tsp orange peel, ,

brownies:

1/3c sugar, 1/2c ( 1 stick ) butter or marg melted, 1 tsp van , 2 eggs, 3/4c flour, 1/2c cocoa, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tps salt,

preheat oven 350  grease 9 kn sq baking pan ,to prepare filling : in sm bowl beat ricotta, cranberry sauce , 1/3c sugar, 1 egg, and cornstarch til smooth, stur in orange peel and set aside,

to prepare brownies:

in another sm bowl stir together 1/4c sugar, melted butter, and vanilla. add 2 eggs, beating well ,stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt, add to butter mix, mix thoroughly , spread of half of chocolate batter in pan , spread cheese mix over top , drop rest of chocolate mix by tspfuls onto cheese mix, bake 40-45 min or til toothpick comes out clean . cool completely in pan on wire rack . cut into squares , chill .

lemon cookies,

3.4c miracle whip , 1 -2 layer yellow cake mix, 2 eggs , 2 tsp lemon peel, 2/3c ready to spread van frosting , 4 tsp lemon juice  . preheat oven 375 , blend salad dressing , cake mi x and eggs at low speed w/ electric mixer til moistened, add peel , beat on med speed 2min , dough will be stiff, drop by rounded tspfuls on ungreased cookie sheet, 2 in apart, bake 9-11 min or til lgihtly browned, ( cookies will appear soft,) cool 1 min remove from cookie sheet, cool on wire rack . stir together frosting and juice and spread on cookies.
