I'm in the market for a new camera! I'm currently using a Sony Cybershot point and shoot, but it doesn't get very good motion shots and is horrible in low light, plus it goes through phases where it won't take the picture when I push the button, I have to release and push again (by which time, I've missed the opportunity for the cute shot!) Of course, in good light, it can get really nice, really crisp pictures! I just wish it would do that regardless of the surroundings...
What cameras do y'all use? What do you like/dislike about them?
I recently got a Canon Rebel xsi. I love it and the pictures are awsome once you learn what settings to put it on for what conditions you are in. I am still learning. There are only 2 draw backs I have found so far. 1. If I am taking a lot of pictures it will sometimes say busy and not let me take a picture for a second and have to do what you said...release and start again...this annoys me. 2. Additional lenses for this camera are incredibly expensive. The camera cost me around $600 and the lenses are almost as much (as far as I know at least). I haven't tried looking on ebay yet though.
I loved my Cybershot!! I had it for almost 3 yrs, but it got wet and didnt work so well :( I just got a Canon Powershot for valentines day and I dont really like it. It has the same issues you described about yours. If the person is not completely still it comes out blurry! I just got it as a gift so I feel bad, because I really wanted to sell it and buy a different one LoL I guess I am a little dissapointed seeing as it was a $200 camera!! I have got some really nice pics from it, but I am still wishing I had a different one!
I have a Cannon Powershot G10 (*its not a simple point and shoot but its not as complex as a DSLR-- you can get a converter collar and even add lenses if you'd like it to be more versitile!!)-- I love it, only thing is I should really send it in and get the lense cleaned-=-somehow I got dust under the one lense (doesnt affect pics but buggs me) plus my zoom is starting to stick a bit. I love the fact it's so versitile-- I can use auto mode-- any of the pre-set settings or even go to Manual mode apt priority or shutter speed priority mode-- it takes great movies....and it has a killer timer to be able to prop up the camera on a tripod and take a quick family photo
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions! I've heard great things about the Rebel from others as well - I have a friend with one who said I could borrow it a couple of days to see what I think about it before buying one :)
I have a Fuji finepix. I am thinking this summer I may get a different camera. But, for now I love it. The Rebel looks interesting. I want one that I can add lens to. I want to try to do a little bit of photography. So I want something that can take close ups and yet do trees, sunsets, and basic outdoor pictures. Does anyone have any suggestions for me as well?
I have a Nikon D80, and have 4 different lens. Of course the standard lens but I realized all the standard lens can only do so much. So i went alittle crazy and bought a few lens that I can practice with.LOL I got the Nikor 50, Tamron 17-55, and the Sigma 70-200 Macro. I love using them all for different occasions. I also bought a canon xsi from a friend who sold it to me for 150 and never used (He didn't understand it at all). I got a steal, this camera was around 800.00. I am going to try jump over to canon side now.LOL It's a bit different from the Nikons.
Well, I ordered mine! I got the Rebel XSi - it was shipped today and I should get it next week! I'm sooooo excited! I just got the standard lens with it, but both my mom and sister have Canons so I'll play with their lenses when I visit them at the end of the month and see what I like and don't like about them and go from there :)
For those of you looking for a P&S, I currently have a Panasonic Lumix and really really like it! That's what I got last year instead of a DSLR.
