Using a buyer's agent

My SO and I are looking to buy a house and we were wondering how the idea of people using buyer agents goes over with listing agents?

We're first time home buyers and we think that using a buyer's agent might be better for us when it comes to negotiations but we don't want to create any ill will with the listing/selling agent.

Thanks!

You don't want to work directly with the listing agent when buying a home - the listing agent represents the seller. They are used to the buyer having their own agent 90% of the time.

Having someone representing your best interests is the BEST decision!

Absolutely use a buyers agent.  That is someone working for you (& 99% of the time, the Seller pays the full commission, so you aren't paying your own agent). and the listing agent is totally fine with it. You need someone on your side! They will help you house hunt and it makes the process much easier for you and actually it does for the selling side as well.

Thanks, ladies.  We did end up making contact with a buyer's agent and are now in the official process of house hunting.
