hi my name is gaby im 23; no im 24 years old and my son is three months old. he's my first child and theres a lot of adjusting to ... lately my son is drooling like no tomorrow and always has his lil hands in his mouth... cant help but wonder if hes teething or if its normal... should i buy him teething toys and orajel ... or let him be????
my baby is doing the same thing. only at night, he criiies like there is no tomorrow. I figgured he was teething, so my hubby & i bought baby night time orajel and baby tylonal that tastes like bubble gum and comes with a plastic syringe. I was worried though because it has lasted for a month (hes 4 months today) so I took him to the doctor a couple of days ago, and wondered if maybe something else was wrong with him. the doctor told me usually babys start teething around 6 months of age, but that boys started teething much sooner than girls. she took a look, and pointed out that sure enough hes get teeth comming in. its sometimes hard to tell, but now that I know what im looking for, the gums are swollen and you can kind of see white or 'lighter' patches under the gums. she also said that they may not even break through untill hes 6-9months old!... poor baby. but that I should keep doing whatever I was doing to keep him confortable. We have used teething rings, he likes them, but not if they are cold. he loves wet wash cloths though.. the baby orajel works really well with the baby tylonal. but daddy has to play airplane with him until it kicks in to help him get his mind off the pain. I hope your baby is okay, and you figure out what makes him feel better. If your still conserned though I would schedual an appointment with his pediatrician just to make sure.
It could be teething. My son's first tooth popped through when he was three months old. He also always has his hands in his mouth. The only way I have been able to tell if he is about to get a tooth is to rub your finger on his gums, you'll feel a little bump. But my son won't use teething toys, I have tried over and over again. Someone even reccomended for me to freeze a washcloth and give that to him, well that didn't work either. I use the baby orajel and sometimes he gets a little tylenol. I have also heard good things about amber necklaces and teething tablets. Hope this helps :)
