Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. It's been crazy around my house. lol! Hmmm....thumb toss (also called time tosses)....that is one that we are working on too. I'll try my best to explain it how I did with Autumn:

This is for a right handed toss:

Hold baton tumb to ball with the ball pointing skyward.  To begin with, slowly rotate clockwise. When it gets to the point where your hand is flat & you are starting to rotate your wrist, push the baton with your thumb. You will catch it (always) tumb to ball. It will need to make at least one rotation for that.

For a left handed toss: (that we have not tried yet)

Same as above. Your elbow will go out (almost like a bird flapping it's wing) & the baton will flip kind-of over your elbow.

For both of these, you will eventually get to where you can go faster. The faster you go, the easier it is.

For tosses to each side you still flip off of the thumb. R is clockwise, L is counterclockwise.

Let me know if you have any questions. If I don't answer a question within a few days, PM me. Sometimes I don't get to check all of my boards. Have a great Valentine's Day!

This is great it helps to have someone who is going through the same thing with a different view on each exercise.  she has been doing good on the tossing its the catching shes having trouble with.  any ideas for that!!?

No ideas for the catching...that's just going to take time. Since it's been so long since I checked in, how is it going??

we found that by doing it over and over again is the quickest way to get the tricks down.  in tricia's first couple of years that concept was "lost" on her lol. but since she is with her current group she doesnt mind the repetative thing so much, she actually enjoys it it seems cause she is constantly twirling.

Swimming went well until she broke her arm.  Thats right two weeks before the end of the season and she broke her arm at the park.  She cried for days that se couldnt swim.  Then she cried at camp cause she still couldnt swim.  She was devastated but she gets it off next week and i promised her several days at the pool before school starts back and we get back into baton!!  hows your summer going!

Come to support your swimmers!!  Swim Team Mommas!!!
