Cupcakes and Decorating Kits

Hi, I have a question for anyone out there that can answer it. I have a 14 year old soon to be 15 year old daughter who suddenly picked up the love of baking and decorating. She is not all that great with either but she is thinking of becoming a pastry chef . Or it could be something she wants to impress friends. What homemade "easy" recipes are out there and what is a good starter decorating kit? Practice makes perfect and she is baking it up in my kitchen.

For decorating, Wilton has some great starter kits.  Our Walmart sells them in the section with the party supplies.  It contains the icing bag, coupler, and several of the standard decorating tips.  I beleive there is also an idea/guide booklet in there.

There are some great recipes in the recipe forum here.  I think many of those will be easy enough to start with.

You can also look into a teen cooking/baking class for her in your area.   As Melissa said in our recipe forum we have many "beginner" cupcake, cake, cookie recipes.  Practice does help alot.  Baking is a good way to keep math and chemistry active in the brain since baking is very precise.

Thanks, I will check out the recipes on here. As far as heading to wal-mart I will be ordering online. We are a military family and we are currently overseas with no wal- mart. Amazon and online shopping are my ways of getting what I cannot get here.
