Arent't they supposed to be nonstick?
I bought some really cute Mickey Mouse cupcake molds and baked chocolate chip cupcakes in them. I sprayed a little PAM on them before baking and wiped off the excess (may have wiped off too much, trusting they were nonstick). I waited for them to cool completely but they still stuck!! They came out in crumbs :(
Any advice on how to use my silicone molds without having the cupcakes stick to them? Also, any tips to try to rescue the ones I made that are stuck? (I can't bring myself to pop them out).
Thanks in advance!
I have some silicone pans. You still have to grease them before you use them. I always just rub some canola oil in them, but that's only because it's what I have on hand. My youngest is allergic to all of the sprays, so I don't ever buy any. LOL. The pans work wonderfully if they are greased though! I really like my silicone pans!
yeah i just dont trust those things because i can really smell the plastic heating up when they are baking and heating up plastic releases carcinogens aka cancer causing chemicals! I stick to the metal!
1) I would still grease them because any actual cakeform pans probably need the extra help
2) I would definitely do the cake pop idea mentioned and can still do the whole Mickey Mouse thing by pressing those 100 calorie Oreo cookies in as the ears, mini M&Ms as the nose, a little white frosting with a dab of chocolote to get the fleshy tone, and mini chocolate chips for the eyes!
Yep that is a great idea, expect my niece was screaming for her Mickey mouse cupcake LOL

Thanks! After a LOT of prying I managed to get a couple of Mickeys out, "half whole"... they were totally ruined! ugh ! LOL
I will try once more with canola oil. Have you ever baked chocolate chip muffins in your silicone molds? (Im thinking maybe chocolate chips are the reason they're sticking?)
BTW, I'm not a fan of the PAM spray, idk it tastes funnny.... I may prefer to rub canola oil on them as you suggest :)

Yeah, rigth now I'm not a big fan either! argh! But tgose darned Mickey Mouse molds were too cute to pass on them! They weren't really cheap either...
Although I have some silicone cupcake liners that I like, but that's just because you don't have to get the cupcake out until you eat it, and you just skip the paper liners. They are quite cute and reusable :) but the cupcakes still slightly stick to the silicone liners!
I should have remembered taht when I bought the MM molds
Quoting rmp:They have never worked for me. World Market sells them at a real cheap price , I just prefer the metal ones. My neighbor let me borrow her Kitchenaid ones and they all got stuck!
I'll probably do that next time when my niece is over. I love that idea!
(but last night I had no other fun baking supplies on hand, and a screaming, impatient toddler, argh!)
"I want my Mickey Mouse!!!" - I had nightmares.... lol
