Today I decided to make and use candy clay for a cupcake. IT rolls out just like fondant but tastes way better. So i give you my cupcake...

I know it's not perfect as I was just playing around and my nails kept diggin into it. It was fun to make though, and apparently very good since my dog snagged it off the table as I was cleaning up LOL
14 ounce bag of white (or colored) melting candies and 1/3 C Karo Syrup.
Melt candys 20 seconds at a time till melted (don't over heat) stir in syrup. Mixture will start to become grainy, cover airtight with plasic wrap for 3 hours. Knead and cut. If you want to color the white yourself use gel based (wilton) color.
It is. And if you don't have candy melts you can use 12 ounce of chocolate chips. I'm gonna play around with this one weekend and see how well it works with my Cricut cake cutter as well.
HMM Ive never made anything with fondant because I didn't want to do that much work for something that didn't even taste great so now Ill probably try this one this spring in my new house.
interesting. i dont like the taste of fondant does it taste like it?
Nope, DH said it was a bit chewy on a cupcake, but it tastes just like candy melts. I'm gonna try making some chocolate flavored and seeing if it comes out like a Hostess Cupcake.
Quoting melaniecerise:interesting. i dont like the taste of fondant does it taste like it?
