Baking 101 Baking 101

Baking with kids

My three year old has been asking me to bake with her.

I don't want to default to mixes, but I also want something easy enough to keep her attention and for us to finish successfully.

For a point of reference, she "helped" make pancakes this weekend...wanted to stir them forever, and cried when I finally took the bowl so I could cook them on the griddle. :/

she often feels this way about cooking food...it's a challenge!

any simple, perhaps even no bake ideas I can try with my daughter?

thanks in advance.

Why not give her a small amount (one cup or less) of her own flour/mix so she can stir until she gets tired and then you can make the "real"recipe?  This is a good age to explain limits on things so you can even set a timer so she knows when to stop.

Measure the ingredients into different containers and let her dump them in.

i am happy.  I bought some fresh flour so we can make cookies this coming weekend here.  DD does not eat them but loves making them.
