Do you ever look at a person differently after learning their kids names?

For example, if they used a crazier name like Diesel or Fuchsia... Do you put them in another category in your mind than you would have otherwise?

When I hear they named their child a name in the top 5 and they think they were being original and shocked about the popularity. I do think differently about them

Absolutely.  As a teacher, I have to shake my head and wonder what in the world is wrong with some people.  The name a child enters the classroom with is a good indicator of how much the parent puts the child or themselves first.

If a kid has a really strange name it usually means that the parent is an attention seeker and did not think of their child first before naming them.

FWIW~ I do NOT mean unique or family type names but ones that are just rediculously made up and/or weird.

Sometimes--knowing what names they like for their kids, or what they actually use, tells me a lot about them as a person. I don't judge them, it just shows insight into who they are.

Absolutely. There is this girl at work who named her son Ace Danger. To me, that name is meant to be funny, a joke. Would you want your name to be a joke? I kinda looked at her different after that. I don't mean to, but I totally do.

Another person is naming their kid Lillian Catherine... pretty but boooring.

Not really. After taking an antropology class and learning the social trend of names over the years and projected outcome of names in the future, it will be more "odd" names than "traditional" names in the future but they will just be considered normal.  Honestly I try to look at naming from a cultural perspective knowing that culture changes.

Yeah, I guess I do too... But only for a moment, bc then I remind myself that I named my children Maddox, Kingston, & Paris and wonder what the heck ppl might think about me! Lol.
Andie, I agree with that too... Definitely tells you a little about a person or couple... Or at least who they were years back when naming their kids!
