How Were You Treated by Your Parents Because You Were Pregnant?
My Mom was a very old fashion Scottish lady. She was mortified, and I was called every name in the book for yrs. My Dad did get up out of his chair to come after me, but she stopped him. My Dad never hit or disciplined us as kids, my Mom did it all. Every B'Day of mine or my sons my Mom always had some remark to make about me being too young for a child at such & such an age. I couldn't enjoy any big occasions because she always some how got her digs in. I was at home w/ her bec my S/O a Marine was on cruises and out of State a lot., plus no $ to always relocate. I COULD NOT WAIT until he was discharged,
I think he had a job within 2 weeks and we moved out. Now the harassing was on going on the pho a lot, but at least I was away & on my own, damned if I did, damned if I didn't. The funny part, my son, ended up being her PET. What a crazy world we live in.
When I got pregnant with my first my mom treasted me like shit (I was 14). I was so scared and confused and hurt by my mom's reaction that she was able to manipulate me into an abortion.
When I got married she wasn't upset that I was a pregnant bride (after all she was too).
my mom was a pregnant bride too so she has been very supportive of me! Plus she knew we wanted to have kids right away anyways and my mom literally lives for her grandchildren. If she didn't have grandkids to buy things for and take care of and spoil rotten, I think she would go cray and be so bored. And I think she likes her grandkids better than her own kids so she could not be happier!
My Mother was a great GR-Mother to all of her GR-CHD, it was ME that was her target. As many of you said, she enjoyed them so much more as Gr-Mothers do and spoiled them with love and kindness. But it certainly made me know how to feel, treat, and act towards my girls if and when my girls got pregnant and then married.
