Just an update - My girls are doin great- but I do miss you ANA mommy loves you.
Hello family and friends,
Just wanted to give all of you an update on how things are in my life right now. Some of you may already know that the girls are home and have been home for a few weeks now-WOW a few weeks, I still cant believe that they are here. It has taken me so long to send this letter out because they are a lot of work, and I'm lucky to get free time for my self much less do anything of importance. The first few weeks have been a little rough but thank god that my mother and Aunt Debbie were able to come up the first few days that they were both home. My aunt stayed a few days and then my mom stayed a week, if they had not been here I don't know what I would have done.
Catherine came home on a Friday and we had to rush her back to the ER that Sunday-she was having apnea spells ( where she would stop breathing). They only kept for 48 hrs and said that she was OK and of course did she have any while she was in the hospital - UM NO. lol Anywho, Bethany came home a few days later and she has been absolutely wonderful- meaning we expected for Bethany to be the one to give us all the problems and little miss Catherine has been the one to give us scare after scare after scare. I have had to take Catherine to the same day doc twice now. The first was because she was just not acting herself - they gave her breathing treatments and told me to do them daily. The second time was because she wasn't seeming to get better with the treatments and I was just worried. Since that she seems to be doing a little better-she has her good days and then bad ones.
Having them both here is so much work and with Jaydon in the mix-well lets just say that at times it feels impossible. We do have medicaid on the girls and they are covering us some nurse care and we chose to use our hours at night so that I can get some sleep and be there for all three kids during the day. That has to be the biggest blessing so far. The girls are so different its funny. Catherine is as we say "little miss attitude" lol no I am serious, everybody keeps poking fun and saying that she gets it from me-I guess. I love her to death but let me tell ya she has a cry that will make any woman go crazy lololol. The NICU sent her home on NeoSure 24 calorie ( I have to specially mix their formula) and vitamins. She is now over 8 lbs- yeah I know I keep calling her my little piggy. I truly think that she is going to take after my dads side of the family-tall and skinny and able to eat anything - little buts lololol.
Bethany is doing so good with being home-you'd think that she was never a preemie-except for her being really small still ( she weighs a little over 6 lbs now) They sent her home on the same formula but 27 calorie, she is also taking vitamins, a diuretic, and Previcid (for her refluxing). Her personality is laid back- she got the good side of me lol. Even though she is laid back I think I may have to keep a close eye on her as she gets older-shes probably going to be the sneaky one. I think that she is going to have a lot more of my moms side of the family-like me the good old Sheedy genes. I haven't figured out what her cry sounds like, Cahterine sounds like a cat but Bethany kinda does this uh uh uh cry - it is cute though not annoying-although over the last few days I have noticed that at times she sounds a little like Catherine ( "little miss attitude is teaching my little angel bad habits-lololol). Dale and I were joking around the other day and comparing the girls and we came upon a really good explanation of their personalities- Bethany is the little angel with a halo and Catherine well her halo is held up by her horns lololololol see we can find humor in all this chaos and stress. No on a serious note I think that Catherine is going to be the one that NEEDS more attention and lovin ( shes gonna have to reassured), Bethany is gonna do her own thing.
Jaydon isn't doing too bad with them being home. He goes into the room sometimes with us when we feed them- we are trying to ease him into being with them. He has been feeling a little attention deprived though, he seems to be acting out a little more than normal. He has also been waking up in the middle of the night for the last week. When he wakes up he screams bloody murder and nothing I do seems to help, except to hold him for a little while till he calms down. He is almost talking - now he knows what we are saying to him and he will babble back at us but no words yet-not that I have heard anyway, I keep having people tell me "oh he said this word today" but I have not heard anything. We did get him a dog - ugh not what I really wanted right now and even though it is Jaydons dog well its Dales too-sometimes I think more.
Dale and I are doing good-hangin in there (well me). I wish he would help me more and it is a battle that I am continuing to work on with him. Can you all believe that this July will be 5 YEARS !!! Wow how time flys. And can you believe that the girls are 4 1/2 months old-I cant believe that either. Well speaking of time flying that's what it has done here. Its getting about that time again to go feed babies.
Love you all too much and the whole family sends their love,
Shannon, Dale, Jaydon, Cahterine, Bethany, and Bell (the dog)
ps. So just a little something to all my friends it would be nice to hear a lil something from all you-its been a while for some of you missin ya lots and wish I could spend more time with all ya. Also for those few of you that are in my inbox waiting for a reply-Im getting there one thing at a time and this letter has been way over due.
