Does anyone else have a Dobe that will literally "hold it" for 12+ hours before they will go in the rain (even then it's because I'll make him!)? I think Lucius really believes that that rain will melt him lol... my big tough Dobe afraid of rain, it's funny. Too bad for him we live in Oregon now! I thought maybe it was just him but then we fostered a female Dobe for a couple months and she was the same way! If it was raining and I let them out I'd have to push them out the door and then they would both sit with their backs against the house under the eve and not budge! Doesn't bother my Beagle/Basset at all!
He'll go for a swim in the lake too lol.
I'll get a pick of him sitting under the eve if it rains later, he looks so pathetic.
Yeah, Addy was the same way! I had her kennel next to the front door so when I opened the front door and then the door to her kennel it made a path that she could only get out the front door and not into the living room.I would get up in the morning to let her out and if it was raining, snowing or just too cold she wouldn't move. I would have to drag her out of the kennel and force her outside. A beagle puppy that we watched for a few days would just run right out into the snow drifts, do his thing and then run around in the snow some more before coming in!

We lived in Minnesota for the 1st couple years of his life and he didn't mind the snow at all, they played in it all the time. Just a wuss with rain lol.
My dobies are the same way with rain. It amazes me how long they can hold it. Cherokee will go to the door and whine to go out but as soon as I open the door and he can see the rain he backs up. When I push him out he just stands under the eves barking to get back in. I have actually seen him pee on the steps when he is desperate. These dogs are such goofs LOL.
My dobies will actually play out in the snow for longer than they will on a nice sunny 70 degree day. They love the snow and hate rain which makes no sense to me.
Funny, guess it's more common then I realized! They should put it in the breed books under characteristics and traits lol. Intelligent, loyal, fearless (except for rain)... lol
