This group is for moms who have adopted, women hoping to adopt, adoptees and natural mothers/ "birthmothers." If adoption has touched your life in some way, you've come to the right place. Feel free to read quietly or jump on in and share your story with us. If you need a shoulder to cry on, a friend to lean on, someone to share your joy with, we are here!
The group's owner is an adoptee. We are administered by a group of moms who represent all members of the adoption triad (adoptees, adoptive moms/hopeful adoptive woman, and birth moms). Our goal is to provide a place that promotes thoughtful, respectful, and supportive dialogue among all of our members, no matter where you fall on the triad. This group does not cater to one group of members vs. another. While it's impossible to maintain an equal number of each triad member, every person in our group is equally as valuable as the next. Each member deserves to be treated with respect, even when our views differ. Whether expressing the highest of highs or lowest of lows, our goal is to learn from one another and support one another in the journey that has brought each one of us to this group.
**This is NOT a matching group. Hopeful adoptive parents and expectant woman considering adoption may not solicit for adoption within this group.**
We would prefer that this group be made up of as many ACTIVE members as possible. An active-member group keeps things moving, keeps the content current and leads to a more enjoyable, educational and vibrant experience for it's members. If you haven't logged on to CM in a month or more, you may be removed! Removing members is not something we want to do, but please be aware that it's possible. However, life happens. If you are deleted from the group due to inactivity, but want to return and be an active member, please rejoin and jump right back in!

Please keep the posts and message threads civil! Please, no name calling! No passing judgement! Do not intentionally hurt the feelings of any member! Heated topics can be expected in any group of such highly emotional content and issues we all feel passionate about. But the intention of this group is not to have an ever-lasting debate and heated argument. Depending on where you fall on the triad, you may strongly agree or disagree with certain posts and the opinions of others. You are welcome to respectfully post (and reply to) anything relevant to adoption, however, If you post nasty-grams, expect to be removed from the group... no questions asked!
No cross-posting. What is said in this group needs to stay in this group. If you want to create a thread in another group about something you read here, please first put it in your own words. Also, be sure not to give identifying information which would lead the reader back to this group and/or a specific member.
Signatures are allowed, but we do ask you keep your signature to two inches high and under, and delete signatures when quoting, so as to avoid throwing off the margins and not bog down those members on dial-up IPs.
Before adding a common-question post, please consider using the "Search Posts" option. We currently have many repeating topics posted, and you may just find the answer you're looking for without starting another thread.
Depending on which member of the triad you belong to, adoption may be joyous or it may be heart-breaking....or somewhere in between. it is unreasonable to think that we all share the same views and feelings about something so life-changing and enormous. Debates will happen, but please remember, debate the topic, NOT the mother. Let's all help make this a safe, informative and respectful forum where each and every one of our members realizes how valuable she is.
