Need Advice on When to Stop Baby Food

My 14 month old son has been eating baby food (cereal, #1s, #2s, and 3#) since he was 6months old. I am wondering when I should stop him on #3s and just let him eat "big people food" (or the #4s which is basically the same darn thing.) He has been eating it for a while now, whenever we eat something we let him try it and he has eaten some meals that only consisted of "big people food" but I am wondering when and HOW to ween him from the #3 jar foods. We end up spending soooooo much money on them every month and he is already getting WIC for his age so he ends up with ALOT of food. Ugh, I just don't know what is best for him food wise right now and need advice please :D

Now! There's nothing in the baby food that you can't mimic with table stuff. Start him on small pieces and work from there. Baby food from the store is just pried food. Smush it up yourself. By this time I bet he's got some teeth. Go for it.

I'm new 2 the group & was interested in yer question. How has the feeding been going? I agreee with the woman that gave you advice, I started giving my girl 14month old little chopped up bits of food just before she turned one & she loves it & it helps improve her hand eye skills. The thing is babies are not picky like adults are picky. Start off by feeding him whole grain everything if you can help it, don't ever let him have white bread or bleached flours& pastas. All the following have the healthiest parts striped from them& if u start him off liking the taste & texture of whole grain everything, he will make wiser choices when he is older. Over cook some whole grain rotini pasta & cut the noodles in half, add a little olive oil & little tomato sauce even pour some pureed veggies over it & watch him go to town!

May I also add the oils you choose to cook in make a huge differance too. Cook all yer food in oilive or canola oils, they are the healthiest of them all. Cut up all kindsa steamed or frozen/ cooked veggie that are soft but still able to be picked up by hand. Feed him fruits or veggies & a whole grain @ every meal. Give him meat here & there but not at every meal & pay attention to what you give him when to watch for food allergies of anytype.I'm study'n 2 be a dietition, I read up on nutrition all the time even tho I don't have my degree yet& have had great success with my girly eating very healthy.
