I am due in April. This will be my 3rd child that I have given birth to. With the first two I had an epidural. This baby I do not want to have an epidural with. Last time with my son I was so shaky that I could not hold him for hours. I felt so bad. I really don't want to have another epidural. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle the pain?Or has anyone actually gone natural and can tell me what to expect. With my son I got to 8 cm dilated before I actually got it so I am thinking that I may be able to do it I just don't know what to expect.
The contractions do seem alot worse when someone is talking. My mom was sitting there watching the monitor and when she saw the needle start to rise she would say "oh here comes another one" i finally told her to just shut up, hold my hand and look me in the eyes so i could focus!!!! That helped alot better lol. Try to have people there that make you feel relaxed rather than stressed.
I don't know if you are married but my husband was my epidural. I also spent a lot of time in the water, but did not have a water birth. I am a momma of 5 little blessing and only 2 of them were drug free. My last 2 were all natural and amazing. There are many different massages that you can do, also there are oils that you can burn and soft music is very relaxing. Low groaning tones are also very relaxing. I also agree if you have little knowledge on natural birth to maybe try a dula. I was very blessed to have an awesome midwife, and this is where I learned about birth. After the baby is born you will also see a different baby, I don't believe the Docs when they say that the epidural does not effect the baby, because with my experience I believe that a baby without an epidural is like night and day to a baby with an epidural.
I will be praying for you stay strong.
Quoting leilanismama123:I have recently heard of something, I beleive it is called hypno-babies. Its a form of hypnotizing , so that you do not need pain meds. Hey, its worth a try. If you are n tune with your body, for sure try this :)
i'm trying that next time! my sister in law took all the classes and everything. she had her just this last sunday and she was in labor for 24 hours so she ended up getting the eppi because she was so tired but still..... hypno-birthing is a great class and form of pain control
i got the eppi when i was 10 cm dilated. on accident, they did not check me for a while, and they thought it'd take a while. but i dilated from a 3 to a 10 in 20 min after my water broke.. if i would have known i was a ten i would have just gone natural..... i'm not gonna lie it does hurt to let yourself dilate all the way. but since you have already gone to an 8, you can make it to a 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) plus i heard the actual pushing just feels like presure and the contractions hurt the worst. the pushing is just a relieving feeling! :)
good luck you can do it!! :)
