I delivered Logan James Lemons at 1:43 p.m. on June 12, 2009. He weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 19 5/8 inches long. I went in to the hospital to start the induction at 6 a.m. on June 12. The hospital didn't waste any time. I was hooked up to the I.V. by 6:30 a.m. My OB came in about an hour later and wanted to break my water. I told him no. I was not thrilled about being induced anyway. I wanted him to come on his own. With the advise of my doctor and knowledge that Logan would just continue to grow, making a natural vaginal delivery more difficult, I decided to induce. I finally agreed to have my water broken at 12:50 p.m. The difference between the contractions before the water was broken and after was indescribable. I felt as though I would not be able to handle the pain, so I asked for the epidural. The nurse checked me and said I was at a 5. She told me that I may not have given her enough time because she had to get a full liter of fluids in me before she could start the epi. She checked me a little later and I was already at a 6. She went to get some Stadall to help with the pain until they could get the epi. When she came back and checked me again, I was already at a 7 and they went to get the Dr. I have no idea how much time passed, but I do know that the Dr didn't have much time to do anything before Logan was born.

This was honestly the most unbelievable pain a person could ever experience. I am so glad that I was able to avoid the drugs. After Logan was born and they were cleaning him off, the Stadall kicked in. When the nurse got a chance, she unhooked it. I didn't really even get the effects of the drug. I was dizzy and sleepy, but felt EVERYTHING...I remember expressing to the Dr that it seemed like the thread he was using for the stitches was forever long.

The recovery from the birth is going great. I am only 4 days post and have very little bleeding. I am already almost at the point of engorgement for breastfeeding. I believe it will happen today. Logan is latching on and feeding well. I do have to use a nipple shield until after engorgement.

I truly believe that none of this would be as positive as it is if I had not gone natural. I am so thankful for everything I have :)
