Is Your Chicken Induced With Poison?

by Abby_Campbell, www.911BodyResQ.com

Health conscious people are always trying to find the best foods to feed their bodies.  You will hear of talk about moving from chemically sprayed produce to organically grown vegetables and fruits.  When it comes to meat, you will find beef being exchanged for chicken breast as it supposedly contains less fat.  You may even be one of these health conscious people.  But, do you know what is in the chicken that you buy?

Did you know that four well-known companies sell more than 50 percent of chicken in the United States, and all those chicken are altered from their original state with chemicals and drugs to make them bigger?  Do you know what those chemicals and drugs are?  Let's go over some of them:

Monosodium Glutamate (MSG):  As a food additive that enhances flavor, it is typically used in Chinese food, canned vegetables and soups, and processed meats.  It has been known to cause neuro-toxic symptoms such as headache; flushing; sweating; facial pressure, tightness, numbness, and tingling; heart palpitation; chest pains; nausea; weakness; and sometimes even seizures.  It can even be fatal when combined with other chemically altered food additives such as aspartame.

Sodium Erythorbate:  As a food additive, it is typically used in meats, poultry, and soft drinks.  It cures meats and poultry quicker as well as preserves coloring.

Salt:  Salt is typically used to flavor or preserve foods.  Not to be mistaken as "sea salt," the typical table salt is a compound of sodium and chloride as well as heavily processed to remove trace minerals and usually contains an additive to prevent clumping.  Though sodium is important to our health in that it helps us to balance our water levels as well as contract muscles, we need to be careful of our intake.  Anything more than a teaspoon of salt per day is too much, and most Americans are doubling or quadrupling their intake through pre-packaged, processed, and fast foods.  In the case of salt injected chicken, a four ounce serving equates to a serving of fast food french fries.  Many cases of high blood pressure are caused by a high intake of salt or sodium.

Trisodium Phosphate:  Typically used as a cleaning agent, stain remover, and degreaser, though it is used as a food additive as well.  It is considered a "strong" chemical and poison that can cause a variety of symptoms when large amounts are either swallowed, breathed in, or spilled onto the skin.  '

Multiple Antibiotics:  Used to treat humans and animals with bacterial infections, antibiotics are known to cure.  For several decades now, antibiotics have also been used to prevent and increase growth rate in meats and poultry which has become a major problem.  It's a problem because it increases the resistance to treatment.

Roxarsone:  An organic arsenic, it is used in chicken feed to ward off parasitic diseases.  High levels of arsenic is fatal.  In lower levels, it can cause a host of symptoms including nausea and vomiting, decreased production of red and white blood cells, abnormal heart rhythm, damage to blood vessels, and a sensation of 'pins and needles' in hands and feet.

Why are these chemicals, especially antibiotics, so dangerous to our health?  Well, due to the build up of resistance towards these drugs, bacteria can spread and even become "super bugs" with no cure in sight.  Because bacteria in farm animals can be spread to humans in a variety of ways (i.e., water supply, airborne, handling of meats, and ingestion of meats), this can create havoc on our society and the world.  See this video clip with CBS Anchor Katie Couric below:

After knowing what is in more than 50 percent of chicken at the supermarket, how do you shop for the product without all the chemicals and drugs we just listed?  After all, you will see different brands of chicken labeled as either hormone-free, all natural, free range, or organic.  Though all these labels sound great, don't be fooled!  First of all, "hormone-free" is not a selling point as we may think.  In fact, chicken that is hormone-free is only the product manufacturer's reiteration of the prohibition of hormone raised chicken in the United States by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  As far as "free range," you may get an image of a bunch of chickens roaming free and plucking at one another on some farmer's land.  However, the USDA allows the free range label on any chicken product as long as it had access to open air for at least five minutes per day.  As a matter of fact, free range chicken could be cooped up for their entire lives, and opening the door to the industrial chicken house for five minutes one afternoon would be considered "open air."  You may even see chicken product labels with "all natural," and those labels may even include a notation stating that their chickens are raised "without an antibiotic."  Buyer, BEWARE!  The USDA does not verify these claims, and the manufacturers apply these labels at their own discretion.  So, what is the gold standard if it's not hormone-free, free range, or all natural?  "Organic" chickens are the only ones being raised without antibiotics and have access to the great outdoors.  Most importantly, organic chickens are not genetically modified, irradiated, or cloned.

If we stop buying chemically and drug produced chicken, we can send a message to the industrialized farm community.  Buy organic chickens only!  Then maybe they will get the message of what consumers want.  Besides, you will be much healthier too.

I LOVE this post!!!! Our family choose to become vegitarian about 6 months ago and havent felt happier or healthier in a long time! If and when we do eat meat it is only local farm animals raised in the "proper" conditions. I wish more people knew and understood how serious this is.
