Overwhelmed? Need a Little Help in the Motivation Department?

Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Lack of motivation? Just want to be lazy and do nothing? I think we all have been there. When it comes to fitness goals, it can seem like just another thing on the "To Do" list. And, many times, we cross it off our list without even doing it because we are buried waist deep with other things to do. Being women, it seems that we even have more to do than most. Not only do some of us have a job outside of the home, but we have our families to tend to, a house to clean, laundry to fold, cooking, and bookkeeping. If we stopped doing our job, we wouldn't get paid, and we'd have a filthy house, dirty clothes, hungry children, and no bills paid. So, it seems logical to just axe the workout. That would at least give us a whole extra hour to do the things we need to get done. Right?
So, you give up your a day or week of exercising. How are you feeling mentally? Defeated? What about physically? Run down? Do you get so tired that you feel like you have to cut something else, on top of your workout you just crossed off, from your "To Do" list? A couple more weeks go by, and you still aren't able to get it together. Before you know it, a month or two pass by since you've worked out. Then one day, you're looking in the mirror asking yourself, "Why did I give up my fitness goals?" and exclaiming, "I look fat!" Worse yet, you are probably feeling physically tired and bloated. Your mind is unfocused. You lack self confidence.
What gives? How do you get it together where you can balance it all? It's time to "plan." You must get your calendar out and start planning. Just as you would schedule your doctor appointments and kids' sporting events, you must schedule the rest of your life to stay on track as well. Plan out your grocery shopping, your laundry, your computer time, and your workout time. Only by sticking to those times will you be able to relieve yourself of the chaotic life. Besides, there are chores on our list that we don't like, so we can then actually see the light at the end of the tunnel when they are scheduled. And, how nice it will be to get everything done and still have a peaceful rest? Ahhhh! But, don't schedule everything so tightly to where you are crushed by your calendar. If you need two hours for grocery shopping, schedule it for an extra half hour. If you need an hour for working out, schedule it for one and a half hours. That way, if you run overtime, you won't feel rushed. And, if you finished your task early, then enjoy that little bit of extra time to do what you want. So, get it together today and start planning!
