Don't Have Time for the Gym but Want to Get Fit?

by Abby_Campbell, www.911BodyResQ.com

You're a mom, a wife, and an employee outside of the home.  Some of you are even going back to school.  Needless to say, your plate is FULL!  You just don't have time to go to the gym as it takes time to get there and back as well as train.  Who has that kind of time when there is so much to be done?  Then take 30 minutes out of your day and just get it done at home.  You don't need a gym with fancy equipment to get moving.  If you need to get up a half hour early or go to bed a half hour later, then just do it.  You will feel so much better!

So, what are some exercises you can do at home with little or no equipment?  There are plenty.  For legs, try squats, lunges, step-ups, and calf raises.  You can do all of these without any equipment in all their variations.  However, you can add dumbbells or a barbell as well for more resistance.  And, to make them even more powerful, you can do the plyometric forms:  jump squats, jump lunges, and explosive step-ups.  For upper body, you can do push-ups, pull-ups (if you have a bar), and tricep dips all without fancy equipment.  If you have dumbbells, you can add in shoulder and bicep exercises as well such as different forms of shoulder raises and bicep curls.  For abdominal exercise, you have an abundance of these at hand from reverse crunches to scissors to planks.  There are so many exercises you can choose from to keep you in tip-top shape right at home!

If you're really short on time, then split your workouts with lower body and upper body days.  Make a list of the exercises you would like to perform, and do them in circuit fashion for two to three sets.  By doing one circuit at a time with no rest until that circuit is completed, you will save time.  Not only that, you will rev your metabolism which will help you lose weight faster.

You can even start a very economical home gym for less than $100.  With a few sets of dumbbells, a stability ball, exercise step, and a yoga mat, you can really up the anty in your fitness endeavors.  You can read my previous blog on how to get started with your home gym right here:  Can't Work Out at the Gym?  No Problem!

So, get started today and make fitness a part of your life!  You won't regret adding a half an hour to your schedule to stay in shape and be healthy.  ;)
