ASA!
I love to read and being a new Muslimah I would like to build my book collection and even joined the Islamic Book Club on cafemom but they have seemed to slow down. I was happy with their recommendation for the book "You can be the happiest woman in the world" A treasure chest of reminders- By Dr. A'id al-Qarni. I also have the Qu'ran, and a few books on the stories of the Prophets PBUT.
So do you have any wonderful books you would like to share? If you don't already I would suggest getting a copy of the "You can be the happiest woman". It's very uplifting when things can get chaotic in the life of a Muslimah, wife and mother.=)
Salaam!

Heres a couple posts....
Pg.147
{Therefore, remember Me [by praying, glorifying].
I will remember you} (Quran 2:1520)
DO NOT SPEND YOUR TIME DOING NOTHING
Your prophet (SAAWS) said to Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "If you commit a sin, then ask Allah for forgiveness and repent to him, for if a person acknowledges his sin and repents, Allah will accept his repentence".
Imagine that you possess all the money you ever wanted and achieved all your dreams and fulfilled all your wishes, then you lost everything. You would weep and complain, and be filled with regret; you would bite your fingers in sorrow for what you have lost. So what about your life which is slipping away from you without you even realizing it?
Your Life is a precious jewel whose value cannot be measured in material terms. Every minute or your life that passes can never come back. These minutes are your capital in this world, with which you can buy whatever you want of the delights of Paradise. How can you waste this life without repenting sincerely?
"There is one way that leads to happiness: stop being worried about the things beyond your control."
Heres another one i loved
Pg 141
"Success means that your name is on everyones lips"
A WOMAN FROM AMONG THE PEOPLE OF PARADISE
'Ata' ibn Abi Rabah narrated: Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: " Shall I not show you a woman from among the people of Paradise?" I said, "Yes." He said: "This black woman came to the Prophet (SAAWS) and said: "I suffer from epilepsy, and i become uncovered. Pray to Allah for me." He said: "If you wish, you can bear it with patience and Paradise will be yours, or if you wish I can pray to Allah to heal you." She said: "I will be patient, but I become uncovered; pray to Allah that i will not become uncovered." So he prayed for her."
This pious, believing woman accepted a problem that stayed with her throughout her transient worldy life, so that she could attain paradise. She made a good deal, for she was one of the people of Paradise. But she did not like to become uncovered so that people could see her 'awrah (all body except hand and face), which is not befitting for a pious, modest, Muslim woman. So, what should we say to those women who are clothed yet naked, who try hard to show off their charms and to cast aside the veil of modesty and appear virtually naked?
"Enough of anxiety! Be patient and face reality with steadfastness; fill your time and keep going......

assalamu alaikum sister,
masha' Allah. there are many wonderful books I can recommend.
the Islamic creed series by Omar al-ashqar. wonderful series,
the book of Qudsi Ahadiths,
the Nawawi Ahadith
sealed neckar by mubarakfuri
I am reading now a book about portraits from the lives of Sahaabah. it is making me cry. I will share some stories from the book insh'aAllah soon. it is written by abdurrahmaan ra'fat al-basha. I dont know if they have an English copy.
I tried to read the book dont' be sad. I couldnt' finish it... I am not very good with inspirational books I like books with more information than rhetoric. but what I mainly disliked about that book was the constant references to kaafirs and their opinions, and glimpses of their lives , like Ghandi, or even Christian Arab poets ( too much poetry in the book for my taste- even though I love poetry, but when I want to read about Islam, I dont' want to read poetry) ... I felt that there are so many inspirational stories and sayings said by great Muslims like Omar bin Al-khattab or Abu Bakr ( RAA) or Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and many other Sahaabah. that should have sufficed instead of praising Kaafirs.
one comment in there about Allah responding to the supplication of Ghandi . made me close the book and return it to its owner.
I'm sorry.
it seems both my posts today are in a disagreeing mode LOL. forgive me. lets focus on the positive.
Tafseer books are great ( ibn katheer- or al-ashqar) , like I said, the Islamic creed series, Sealed nectar ( it is about the life of prophet Muhammad peace be upon him) and books on hadith.
the group, Islamic book club. is one of my favorites in the cafe. though I dont' post there often. but I like to go there and read sometimes. I am glad you found it.
jazaaki Allahu khairan.
if I speak in error then it is from me, May Allah forgive me and guide us all to what pleases HIM
Love and salaam (peace)

One Book I have loved ever since i picked it up is "If I should Speak" by Umm Zakiyyah
she actually has a few books out...now they are fictioanl novels but they are really nice books...sometimes i just like to relax with a book, and i choose her books for a down time...and they are still islamic...great if you have teenage daughters too...smile
but as far as Islamic learning books..Thalathatul Usool is great...Oh and Path to guidance by Abdul Qayim...Al Fawid By him also...but if you have Sahih Bukhari...the chapter on Softening the Hearts it is in volume 8...those stories are wonderful.
i also just recently got a book called Upright and Moral Character by Shaykh Uthamin..great book
