assalamu alaikum sisters,

for a change. we get some positive LOL. though best buy are getting a lot of criticism because of it. but in different parts of the country , they are wishing Muslims Happy Eid in their adds.

maybe cafe mom will follow suite some time in the coming ten years. sarcasm How long have we been waiting for a happy eid greeting? we have two eids, we are the second largest religion in the world.  but we get none. atheists get two. Jews get three. and christians. well. one hundred LOL. (sigh)

Any way, I digress, here is  more on the subject:

Best Buy add sparks debate

Best Buy add irks customers

and of course it will not be the same if we don't mention the most pro Muslim  news company: , Fox

Pink is used for sarcasm. Duh! LOL

Have a wonderful Eid sisters, and may Allah accept your deeds today, may your fast  be an expiation of your sins. and may Allah protect our Hujjaaj. Ameen.

Love and salaam (peace)

 Wa alaikum salaam!

This is awesome.  Not to mention it's a VERY smart move on behalf of best buy.  With Islam the fastest growing religion in the world it's a great idea to appeal to that market.

Typically, I avoid Best Buy as their prices are a little high.  However, I would be lying if I said when I saw this I wasn't tempted to now shop Best Buy because they are appealing to my market.  As far as I know they are the only major retailer to do it :-)

The printed adds say Happy Thanksgiving and above that it says Happy Eid Al-Adha.  It's small but powerful!

Yay for Eid adds!

As salamu alaikum,

I guess i'll be the odd one out...

honestly without even reading the article I could care less. LOL... Alhamdulliah..means absolutely nothing without the recognition of Allah..subhana Wa ta'ala.  Who cares if we get recognized..  I'm seeing it as they just trying to upgrade thier dollar value..i smell commercialization of our Eids coming on.

sorry to be the party pooper!

LOL, my sweet Pooper LOL. urm I mean party pooper LOL LOL LOL>

commercialization or not. I think it is good that there is some positivity being put out there for a change. I like that when a child sees the word Happy Eid. they would think of Muslims celebrating and being seen as "normal people" shopping . buying gifts, hunting for deals, and exchanging greetings and presents. I like to think that some child somewhere is seeing this instead of picturing Muslims in tents with guns shooting at everyone walking by.

we are not  naive. we know it is to boost sales. though up until this moment. retailers decided that Muslims are not a worthy target audience to even bother with. I am glad Best Buy is the first to do  so , even if they have a commercial reason behind it ( duh LOL)  I am still happy about it. and it worked. I am planning on buying one of my children's eid gifts from there.

insha; Allah your Eid will be a blessed one. I have to go now start cleaning. my guests for Iftar just left and I have a lot of cleaning to do before I hide my kids gifts for tomorrow's Eid treasure hunt.

love you all for the sake of Allah and leave you in His trusted care.

Love and salaam (peace)

I'm striving to be a stranger in this world.even when it comes to shopping (i hate big buisness). so i guess that i see it differently for myself and my children.  but for others who want to fit in and feel normal.and buy big business.. alhamdulliah.  i feel normal whether i fit in or not. LOLOLOL  Even before I ever became muslim i stayed far from holidays and anything associated with it and i absolutely detested the commercialiazation and i strove hard back then with my children not to fall into it.. so it's a carry over. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL for me more than anything esle.  I love to shop don't get me wrong.. but i hate being played. LOL and i hate being forced to beleive something(like lower prices that shoud be lower anyway.) LOLOLOL.  MY family always held it against me... LOL. oh well.. i love being strange

I also think that it might be very different for me since i live in NYC and we have muslims who own and who work many of the stores in this area. Actually where i live many of the stores are owned by Jews but managed and worked by Muslims .. and then you got tons of Muslim owned shops.... so it's easier for me to feel normal i suppose.  plus i live in a city of complete diversity and i don't feel the same stigmas others do... Alhamdulliah , Allah has made it easy for me in that respect. and I dont' pay attention to others. LOLOLOL that helps immensely. LOLOLOL

i buy best buy also but this wouldn't make me run to spend my  money there... doesn't move me.

fyi... i need a laptop to take overseas... if anyone is feeling generous. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL (wink)

wa'alaykum asalam habibti  well i had to chime in here I HATE BEST BUY and for me their image could not ever be changed a few years ago here in south florida they arrested a fellow muslim brother and had him arrested for no reason and the camera they took of him proved he did nothing wrong they just wanted to be mean , and whats worse they had him being humiliated on all the local tv networks

they never applogized publically to the brother for all the humiliation they did to him and they let him stay in jail after the tape was released he wasnt at fault.....it turns out there was a racists representative and best buy never ever said anything to refute the employees reactions....

anywho sorry but i'll never plan to shop there again
