Assalam Alaikum wa RahmatAllah wa Baraktuh sisters,

EID MOUBARAK

I am interested how do you all celebrate Eid? Do you have any special traditions, do you do something with your children/family, do you buy presents or decorate the house in a certain way? I am married to a man from Morocco and I asked him how they celebrate the Eid and it all comes down to cooking and eating lamb but nothing more special other than food. We have been married for a bit over a year and we do not have children yet but I still want to establish some nice traditions from now so one day our children will look forward to Eid just like the christian children look forward to christmas. By the way I am also a revert to Islam, so any advice will be welcome.

Thank you in advance! I love you all for the sake of Allah my dear sisters! :-) Eid Moubarak

 Walakum Salaam!

InshaAllah, our routine for Eid usually here is....Going to the Eid prayers , then either going to breakfast or coming home for breakfast. I usually decorate with the kids the week before with lights, homemade decorations (we made Sheep last week), balloons, streamers, etc.  After breakfast, I give them a few gifts and candy and let them have fun with their new stuff. And thats about it :o)

I know honestly, Eid in Morocco was kinda boring. Other than eating various kinds of organs and meat in stages, nothing else went on. Every thing was shut down for 3 days.....but, it was nice to be with all the family :o)

You are still young in the marriage, inshaAllah you will slowly build your own traditions. The important thing is to always remember Allah first and we are doing it all for him.........Hope you enjoy the day!

Eid Mubarak!!!

as salamu alaikum,

honestly.. I go to eid prayer in the morning.. then go to a freinds house for eid brunch... nothing more than that. We are supposed to try to spend the three days in rememberance of Allah with dhikr prescibed for it.

assalamu alaikum

we wake up for fajr prayer. then we make the Ghusl for Eid ( eid shower) take a small breakfast, ( or not) then go to the masjid ( again) for Eid prayer and khutbah. we take breakfast items with us. after the khutba. the community has breakfast and we chat, the kids play..etc. then we go home.

i have started a personal tradition with my children. I buy them their gifts, then draw maps and write riddles and hide the gifts around the house. they get their clues and start looking and when they find one gift they find another map, or riddle with that. ( they dont' have to be expensive gifts. we usually get them books, or something they need for school, or a special sports thing they need for their practices or games...etc. )

after that, they are busy with their toys and stuff. Depending on the day. families visit eachother, or the women take the children and visit. or if we have our community party on the same day, or the following day.

we have jumpers, face painting, games, pot luck food..etc. it is fun for all the families alhamdulilaah.

the men sometimes go after salat to sacrifice a lamb in a near by farm ( when they are available, ) subhana Allah.

Eid is a wonderful time. it should be a time that the children wait for and enjoy. my children decorate their room for Eid.

when we first got married. Eid was mainly the prayer and khutbah . calling family, exchanging gifts, and visiting friends.

insha' allah you will enjoy your Eid, and every Eid.

Eid Mubarak everyone. (((HUGS))) I have to go now write riddles and draw maps LOL>

Love and salaam (peace)

As salamu alaikunna

Our Eid was wonderful...we went to the Masjid to join the community in prayer...which i love doing seeing the ppl i never see and spending time with them on this occassion.

After that..I came home cooked breakfast for my family...and we spent the whole day together...then my husband cooked us dinner...which to me topped off the whole day...i felt soo good being catered too...May Allah reward him greatly....Yesturday i spent the day with my youngest son who i never get to see becuz he is away at school...so took advantage of him being home for there holiday...and rode up to visit with him....it was nice seeing my family.

Today iam relaxing...reflecting on The most important thing in my life...i am taking advantage of this time to get closer to Allah and to reflect on Him and keep mindful of how senseless my life would be without islam...Allahu Akbar
